Davinson Sanchez

I think Rebrov was pretty good, scored some really good goals for us, 1 in 3 in his first PL season.

I know they were only in the cup but he scored two ridiculously good volleys that season too. Hoddle wasted him imo.

I always felt he needed someone to play off rather than be the focal point. He was a fantastic support striker but we seemed to think he was primarily a goal getter.

Are Jason Dozzell and Stuart Nethercott some of your favourite players by any chance?

Something tells me you wouldn’t have been a fan of Jimmy Greaves if you had been alive during his era.

Rebrov didn't work because he was surrounded by junk.

Greaves was great, one of the best of all time. We kinda wasted him too. To think that we had that double winning side, added the best forward in the game, and went on to win, er, another FA Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup.

Again dreadful yesterday. For both offside goals he lost his man, could have been a disaster. Yes, they were offside but if you watch, he'd lost track of the player through ball watching and both times he was caught out of position before the player moved offside.

Can't understand why Jose persists.
Look at him for their header that nearly crossed the line just before half-time...plainly ball watching.

Its strange how much he has regressed. I suppose hes another example of trhe system and a partnership getting the best out of him. His passing was always poor but playijng next to in prime Toby or Jan it was less of a problem and I guess they used to cover for his lapses which always happened but with a lot less frequency.

Even under Mourinho its been strange, he was easily our best CB on the face of it last season but Jose decided to go with Dier this season and his level hit an even lower spot than it had towards the end of Poch's time. Its so strange how easily he gets rattled, he can be having a fine game then make a misjudgement like letting a ball bounce (he does this one a lot) and thats it, his concentration and decision making are totally gone for the rest of the match an you just know hes going to make mistake after mistake at that point.

As a CB i think you need to have stronger will and sense of self to not let a single mistake take you so out of your game and especially under Mourinho who wants "men" who can problem solve and hold their nerve. It feels a shame because there is potential in him, but hes no longer suited to Spurs and a drop down in terms of expectations might be for the best of his career.

Think Sanchez would thrive in Italy, the game is slower, less physical which means he can turn off once in a while and not get punished all the time.

I wanted him to do well when he first came here, on paper looks like he would all the attributes but no not the case ... however rather him than Dier

The first 15 mins or so I thought Sanchez looked a lot more alert and was very good in organising and possession.
Then the first ball came at him in the air...misjudged.

It always seems he's much better when the ball is on the ground - presume he's had his eyes tested.

He sounds quite "young" when he speaks, I wonder if there's still room for him to mature.

Rebov, Soldado, Bentley, Bent and Sanchez.

Bent easily the worst for me, he was bought as the finished/expensive article.
Soldado was also pretty bad tbh.

Always seemed like Rebrov was putting in a shift even when things weren't going well, plus those goals against West Ham were an oasis of quality in a sea of brick.

There was also a moment went there was a mix up re Lloris or him taking a ball rolling towards goal. He hesitated, as he always does. I have always thought that that here is a problem with his vision too.

Soldado was the worst by quite a long way I think, perhaps the worst signing we ever made when looking at cost and return. I’m always a little puzzled as to why he seems to get slated a lot less than other bad signings we have made. I think he scored 1 PL goal from open play and then even bottled out of taking more penalties after missing one of them.

I liked Soldado too, he was a good player before we got hold of him.

Bent was definitely the worst because he was so limited, Sissoko gets a lot of stick, and we gave Walcott (who had some similarities) plenty, but both of those were like Cruyff when compared to Bent.

There is no doubting little Jim was different gravy but Smith and Allen where superb in the double winning season and Les Allen was very under valued by many due to Greaves greatness.
