Youth Players/On-Loan Thread 2020/21

Roles is 22 later this month. You'd assume that we'd be looking to sell him in the summer

When he was at Cambridge wasn't he getting rave reviews!?

Yeah. I think that he's a decent player, unlikely to ever make it with us but should have a decent career. We haven't done him any favours holding onto him this long though.

I wonder how the prospect of no European football next season will effect how we approach loaning players.

Long way off but I bet the academy boss is thinking about it.

Ryan Mason isn't it?

Learning experience for him. I hope we take a better approach to bringing players on. Maybe Parrot will take a few years but all the coaches say he has natural ability.
At least it is a good wake up call for Parrott i.e. a year ago perhaps he was starting to think he should get some game time (I have no idea if he did or not, I'm just saying PERHAPS) and now he will realise the huge gap between his current performance and Harold Kane levels of performance.

Our best production of youth came with loans, Townsend, Mason, Kane, even Kyle Walker and Danny Rose - That's one thing, I think, Poch did wrong, was keeping the youth bolt holed up at Hotspur Way. You can only learn so much training with the 1st team, minutes on the pitch is where it counts. Wonder if we could have moulded a few more academy products under Poch's tenure if we had retained the loan system?

I think you can find a lot of examples in both directions
