The Fight to Qualify for the European Conference League 2020/21

Where does the Charlton lad play?
what did you make of Toney last night?
Started as a left back but has moved to left wing. He could end up in either position or even playing as an inverted winger on the right side.

I thought Toney did reasonably well. I suggested him as a potential player around the time that Brentford were looking at him as an option if they sold Watkins. He was probably the sort of player we should've signed last Jan when we lost Kane and Son to injury and needed a body to play as a number 9.

He didn’t look very mobile to me last night, but still caused us problems and v unlucky not to have had a goal. As evidenced by his numbers, the boy can finish.

Yeah I remembered (hence my comment)
He got very good reviews from quite a few Spurs fans who thought he looked better than Vini

Agreed that something has to give, but the EL will get a lot tougher and it's a lot of games. Not saying we deprioritise that either, but smart rotation and see what happens.
I suppose there is some hope that a convincing EL 1st leg win in the next 2 rounds might help.out with rotation.

Overall, just the sheer number of games means something s gotta give.

I cannot find “touches in opposition pelanty area” figures for current season but this chart from 2018/19 shows that ManU were awarded 3x as many spot kicks as us even when we played on the front foot...

I think we’ve seen a few examples tonight of why Utd are awarded more pens. They go over every single time they enter the box, with VAR it only needs to show the slightest of touches and pens are given (or not overturned).

Absolutely. I just don't understand why the media aren't making anything of it.

Actually, I do understand. But I don't have to like it.

A whole week with no football awaits. :(

Mon 25 Jan Wycombe (A)
Thu 28 Jan Liverpool (H)
Sun 31 Jan Brighton (A)
Wed 3 Feb Chelsea (H)
Sat 6 Feb West Brom (H)
Wed 10 Feb FA Cup 5th Round (Everton or Sheffield W away)
Sat 13 Feb Emirates Marketing Project (A)

We didn't get as many points as we should have during our easy run. Have to make up for that by beating some big guns if we want stay in the fight at the top of the table.

After City the EL starts up again.

can't we play villa midweek, get that catchup game in, they can use their under 14's like they did against the dippers if they like

Yes, its a tough run. I assume we'll play a much weakened team vs Wycombe, but Jose is going to need to work out a plan for how to rotate players for the 6 games after that, especially Kane, Son, Tanguy and Hojbjerg. Perhaps he'll have to take a chance against Everton (assuming they get through)
