Harry Winks

Any reports on how Winksy played against Leeds? The commentator on Talkbrick named him MotM for his first half performance.

Didn't see much of him in the Match of the Day highlights reel, unfortunately.

He did well, he and PEH stopped Leeds from really threatening despite their attempts to overload.

My challenge is, that is Winks having a good game, he did well, not he imposed himself on the game (either defensively like PEH or offensively like Ndombele).

Good squad player, but is that enough for him?

Actually he made 8 key defensive actions in the game, the same as PEH
And is was winks who laid on the pass for the penalty.
his passing % was on par with PEH but he made less passes in total (1/3 of PEHs but similar number to Tanguy)
The midfield was much more balanced but also played a reverse of the recent set up with winks at the base and Tanguy/PEH playing further ahead

I thought he had a very good game and was looking better then he has in recent games, i know s ome fans think we should get rid of him but imo we should keep him.

Thanks, gents. For a lad who's one of our own, I'll take that. No complaints from me if he keeps midfield ticking every game along with the odd key pass and a few tackles. He's never going to trouble the Ballon d'Or committee.

But if he wants to be the main man at some other club, good luck to him.

Not sure what winks brings to the team personally and would happily flog him, we need a much better cm than him if we wat to bother the top of the table again

Today he kept the ball. He also won challenges
And he had a great shot that their keeper made a great save from
He can be upgraded on, but against weaker sides we have it have him over sissoko IMO. We saw it against Leeds exactly how we should play this system

thought he did quite well tonight. Yes, we can sign a better CM and need to, but as a HG squad player, he's perfectly fine
That’s exactly it
Home grown and comfortable with the ball
Sounds simple but actually it can’t be when you look at some players

Winks was a 5.5 out of 10 type performance I thought. Got his foot in and won a few challenges, didn't do anything too bad or good with the ball. He was just kind of 'there' really.

He just doesn’t suit these tactics does he? Winks for me is a tidy player who will keep the ball without hitting devastating passes quickly which is what we probably need.

It’s why I could see the logic in the Emirates Marketing Project link because that sort of football suits Winks. Keep it, play the simple ball that will keep us possession and might find the player who’ll break the lines.

Jose is obviously a fan based on his public statements and the documentary but I just can’t see Winks as a Jose player. Which is a shame because he’s a fan, he’s been with us for a long time and he suited to a style of play I’d like to see from us.

Sadly, I think this ends with him leaving at some stage.
