Youth Players/On-Loan Thread 2020/21

Watched Troy play for Millwall this afternoon, and he looks a real prospect. Though he didn't get a goal or any real big chances, I was really impressed by his hold up play and work rate. He was playing wide left, but was really dogged and had more than a few moves where he beat his man with pure will and effort. He isn't super pacy, but he's a strong runner in the same way that Kane is and played some really clever passes in between the lines.

I worry that he's playing in a team that seems unlikely to create much, but he definitely looked at home playing men's football and one of Millwall's more impressive attacking players.

nice to see, but unless he's a late developer, is there any reasonable expectation that he might ever play a meaningful number of games for Spurs? Obviously the contract might just be about securing his future and then a fee when we flog him

Was my first thought. Loan to the championship and sell for 5m. We used to make a bit selling youth players like caulker Livermore so maybe we are trying to do that again.

Why do we need to make up our minds now? Loan him out to a Championship or League 1 club in January and see how he does. The most important thing now is that he plays first team football.

Totally agree, sometimes people are late starters.

Think it really hurt walker-peters not playing football for 2 years. Lovely to see him part of Southampton's side.

Yeah loan him out build him up as a footballer. That’s the one thing we did differently under Poch that I wasn’t completely happy with. He was happier keeping the players around the 1st team than loaning a player out. Townsend, Carroll, Caulker, Livermore, Mason, Kane. To name a few. All had periods on loan in the FL. All came back and have played a part of the first team squad. Nothing beats playing 1st team football were at the end of the day you’re only judged on getting the result.

It was however better when we could do the short term loans. 1-3 months.

Waiting until they change the subs rule and they allow designated kicker, he's the best free kick player in the club.

He is very talented, good on the ball, finds space and is a good passer of the ball with both feet. His physical stature might hold him back but he has a chance of making it at PL level.
