*** OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace ***

Quality is better than quantity every day of the week
I agree I was answering your comment about needing the team to create which we don't do a great deal of. I think there's a bit more balance to be had between the number of chances we create and being defensively solid.

No that was about the opposition creating
It was in response to danishes comments on our approach
I said teams would still need to create chance and take them which we have seen is a rare thing against us

Some of the whinging on here is fudging atrocious. We've drawn, away from home, after conceding for the first time in 8 hours. Did you think we'd never, ever drop a point again? Football is a brick industry, and football fans are honestly a an absolute bunch of clams, and there are plenty on this board too, judging by the comments.

We were 14th just over a year ago, now we are spending time at the top of the league. And people are having utter hissy fits like a bunch of self entitled 12 year olds.

Honestly, such a pathetic bunch of fudging cretins. I think some people need to fudging grow up and put things in perspective.

Haven't seen many hissy fits. It wasn't a great performance and people are rightly criticising it. It's been fairly reasonable from what I've seen.

Many, many positives. But when you look at the policy of retreat when being more progressive has shown such potential it’s frustrating.
And winners always want to win. And we didn’t.

In the amazon show he kept moaning they did not press enough. We are a decent team but aside from kane and son we are not the class of some of his previous sides.
I think Jose has a good enough squad to win the league and he is obviously a great manager. So results like today and especially the way we played by allowing Palace on to us really kills me.

I don’t mind playing like that against the top teams. But I don’t get why we just stopped playing after about 30 mins. We were hurting them going forward. They wouldn’t have come back from 2-0. We were asking for trouble by giving away so many set pieces.

Not blaming him for the result but I really don’t see what Bergwijn offers. Kills every attack, doesn’t create, rarely scores. The only thing he offers is defensive work. Not the only one who was poor though. Kane and Son were quiet, Son especially. Reguilon was sloppy.

For me, playing Bergwyn always leaves us light up front. It puts too much reliance on Kane and Son.

Basic ball retention second half was a problem though. How often did we have to knock it long and have it come back to us. Dreadful stuff really.

We're not trying to retain the ball. The instructions are to let them have it, commit men forward, soak it up and try and get something on the break. It didn't work today. Palace are a decent side and were well worth the point.

Not sure ball retention is a Mourinho tactic, in defence or offence. Think they are launching the balls to concede possession in safe areas and hoping defenders make mistakes or we get lucky getting in. Or we pick up the loose ball.

As Lewis Hamilton said in his post-race interview today: "Can't win em all"

My disappoinment is with the players approach in the second half, would have preferred we try and go all out for a second goal.

I think it was a clear instruction to defend based on the intensity after we conceded.

Let's hope we can get one over on Liverpool mid-week, that's a huge test of our mentality.

To me Berg is there to hustle and press when we don’t have the ball. And to a much lesser extent, provide an attacking threat. Jose loves that kind of player. And he does an important job.

Fine margins. Despite a poor second-half, the remit would've been no silly free-kicks. I think Hugo should've done better there TBH. I felt that we ceded too much possession via Tanguy second half; he seemed a bit "off" to me. Not sure there was any plan to sit so deep, Palace are simply a strong home side with lots of potential firepower.

It is too easy to pile in today. Truth is (as Billy said) we are where we are style-wise and Milo mentioned that getting through these sorts of games without injuries might be worth more long-term. I personally can live with it.
Come on Fulham.

Today was another one of those days when several players gave the ball away too much and allowed Palace to exert pressure on us. That leads to a confidence swing, which was evident.

We are defensively very solid and the chances of scoring against us seem low but of course when there is only one goal in it they only need to ball to go in once to ruin the good work.

The City and Arsenal he's obviously worked better because we did get the second goals. There's even an element of the two goal gap sapping the opposition confidence which today was never the case.

We were just a bit too passive, it's a bit concerning because there are more teams in the league of today's standard than there are teams like City.

wow! calm down. People are entitled to criticise or aren’t they? When you are top of the league with the squad we now have it raises expectations that we should beat sides that struggle to finish in the top 10. We can be happy that we won last week equally unhappy when we struggle to beat teams we really should. Really fudging disappointed.

Regardless of where we are in the league there was plenty to criticise in that 2nd half performance.

But as i said in previous posts if you're happy to see us set up to protect slender leads against poor opposition rather than to take the game to them then you run the risk of dropping points in this way when the players don't perform so it has to be taken on the chin.
