Haha, doesn’t surprise me...I was late to the party, but it’s in the timing with his first appearance. I still remember when Andy Turner was our youngest player, and a star in the making, at least according to Championship Manager 1993.

I remember Turner playing one of his first games against Man Utd and he run Dennis Irwin ragged ( who was a great fullback), said to my lad he could be huge for us. Sadly he was just another youngster who never carried it on.

Scott Houghton too!

he played against me once for Langford
He was fast enough for me that day and tore us up

I played against two premier league footballers and would have been a reasonable player at underage level. Not outstanding but I could compete and hold my own. However, every time I played against Stephen Hunt, he absolutely destroyed me. It was embarrassing. I couldn’t get near him and couldn’t understand it because it wasn’t like he was being touted as someone with a chance to make it at the time. It was only when I saw him make it that I realised I wasn’t just having bad days against him, he was just a completely different league to me.

Ive played against a lot of players who either did go pro or came from pro level
Generally their the best player on the pitch but in the games Ive played most have played with inferior teams so the matches have been decent
St Joseph’s in Luton always used to field ex Luton’s town players and one year had Kerry Dixon’s and Ricky Hill playing for them. we had Lil Fucilo and Rob Johnson who played with them both too and it was just bizarre (I didn’t get on)

It's so hard to predict where a young boy will end up, a young kid at our youth club was ok, very hard shot but not much else but he ended up playing for England and being a legend at one of his clubs. Ex pros are so much better than anyone else when they step down, the training and coaching puts them on an other planet you can understand why they are dismissive of blokes who never made it and try to tell them how the game should be played.

It’s just their reading of the game and is so much quicker. I mean noticeably quicker that older fat players can still kill the younger fit capable ones

Love seeing young players come through.

Would like to see him do a 3 month loan at Yeovil. You dont often see the 3 or 1 month loans anymore but I think it would be good work experience.

Really hope he is content to stay with us.

For those who have seen him a few times, which PL player do you think he most closely resembles and why?

I doubt anyone has seen him play as these games aren’t televised and can’t be attended by any fans
He is a big lad and appears to play on ten shoulder of the defence
But that’s just my view form that Europa game

I wondered if he was like reo Griffiths as we seem to produce similar players in certain positions. Winks, Caroll, Mason all tippy tappy midfielders. I get that they play the same position but their style was distinctive, same for the defenders that have come through.

I have never seen him play but I hope he plays with freedom and enjoyment which has been coached out of some of the young lads.

Griffiths hasn’t stepped up yet at Lyon but has been scoring regularly for Lyon II
