Coronavirus

Just seeing all this.

Let's all take a breather, claim some covid19-mental health tax, take a deep breath and move on.

Personally-speaking, I think the rule of thumb has to be not to post anything you would not say to someone's face...threats are just silly because this is an Internet forum not a pub where you could (if it is your desire) bounce outside and have a mini tear-up.

Remember that despite our years "together" here, we really don't KNOW each other, and I often find that the keyboard is simply not a great barometer of someone's true self unless they are a particularly good writer.

So how about we draw a line under the rancor here and move on? Sound good?

Ok, that is just cruel! :D

Tory ministers saying they won't vote for new tiers without data showing which plan equals less death.

I agree with that. It's time to get back to brutal honesty. That's governance. And it'll focus peoples behaviour.

Labour will vote it through still.

Boris being held up by Labour votes could lead to an interesting few weeks

They had certain parts of a lockdown - shutting down border/travel between areas - and had very low cases.

Just been reading again about Taiwan. It didn’t have a lockdown. A liberal democracy with a population of 24 million, living in mostly urban environments. Its capital, Taipei, is a major transport hub. 7 Covid deaths so far, 477 cases, and they have just seen a 1.9% growth in their economy over the last 3 months.

So there are countries that had lockdowns who have had many cases, countries that haven't had one who have had few and everything in between.

It's almost as if lockdowns are not the deciding factor on cases and deaths.

So a virus acts like a virus and our immune systems work like immune systems? If only we could have expected that.....

some cool heads were involved in that study - proper science. Not sure about the twitter doctor the whole twittersphere is so at odds with measured and deep scientific analysis and his tweet there just goes to highlight that.

Oh and respect to the subjects at ouh - it must have been a right royal pain getting regularly tested especially after a covid infection.

The science really must be irrefutable, as even the BBC haven’t put their usual negative spin on this study!

I don't blame the BBC for their poor reporting for once - almost all mainstream media has got this spectacularly wrong. They've mistaken professional, scientific caution as a lack of understanding and they've all done it.

When a researcher sees standard, expected behaviour but trials aren't complete, it normal and professional to use phrases such as "we don't know." Yet they're probably 95+% sure - they just hold until the results confirm what everyone suspects.

The press then write about antibodies because all the science journos got culled a few years ago.
