OMT Spurs vs Emirates Marketing Project

Exactly. Reggie just stood him up, didn't commit, and shadowed until Mahrez had to give up and play the ball sideways. Excellent defending that isn't going to be shown on the highlights reel.

Spot on people dont notice how good fullbacks play when they do their primary job, easy to rave about attacking play but it's the bread and butter work that counts.

I would just rather we carry on under the radar.

What would interest me though is.

IF, it became a two-horse race between us and Leciester, would the country be behind us this time, as we have never won the PL??? (Well apart from certain parts of London which obv goes without saying who they would root for)

Nope, I think people would still be behind Leicester as they were last time. Fans of other clubs don’t like Spurs, they don’t like our fans. And Leicester despite their title win aren’t a big club in the grand scheme of things and would be viewed as an underdog. If it’s between us and Liverpool or us and Chelsea then yes I think SOME fans would root for us.

4-6 weeks if it's a fairly serious groin strain?
Do we need to get another CD, I know we have Rodon - do we go in for Skriniar in January? Long term cover. Is Sanchez's time up with us ? I think he does well right side, so he'll be coming in to partner Eric v Ludogrets I guess, then the chavs. This is his time to show he can concentrate and make right split second decisions... tough call, chavs attack is quite dangerous all young and beginning to click

I was surprised to hear José saying without Toby we now only have three CBs - Dier, Sanchez and Rondon. And only two in Europe as Rondon is still unavailable.
Doesn't he consider Tanganga a CB? Or is he injured long term? Also, Davies could always fill in at CB in an emergency.

You're beginning to sound like P55

Pleased to have other acolytes. Steel and commitment were what we had been missing in the dog days of the last regime.

Was really delighted with the workrate of every player out there against City. Even NDombele put in a good shift closing down and his ball to Son for our first goal was delicious.

do we go in for Skriniar in January?

Yes

Is Sanchez's time up with us ?

Yes

Will be back in for him in Jan would be my guess - though I'd like to see someone with pace signed as it would help us play a little less deep.

By natural I mean left footed on the left and right on right. It was how we lined up today and have been trying for a few games. Maybe they were test runs for today. Either way it is a tactical change.
Bergwijn is right footed isn't he?

When Son has played on the right before it's been a somewhat different role. When Alli did more of the run in behind Kane stuff and the wide players did less of it. Now I think he should be more suited to playing on the right.

Getting Son playing from whichever side the opponents are more vulnerable to those runs in behind could be a really good approach. It was yesterday at least.

Talking about Son I feel the need to praise his defensive work. He's just about always worked hard, but he's been lacking a bit in terms of decision making and positioning defensively. Thought he did really well yesterday, though possibly helped out by City having two right footed players down that side that were unwilling to go down the outside thus becoming somewhat predictable.

We were clearly after a more established CB towards the end of the summer transfer window. Would be surprised if Rodon changed that. If it's Skriniar or someone else is a different question.

On Sanches I think you're right. Time will tell, but he has a big job ahead to turn things around at the very least.

I didnt hear that, but I thought Tanganga was now back available?

Given how players across the PL are dropping like flies given hte number of games and interupted pre-season, I'd like to think we'd wrap Dier and Kane in cotton wool between league games. I'd go with davies and Sanchez at CB on Thursday for example

I don’t think he is match fit yet

We're still work in progress. But what was great to see is how the team has cohesion now. The players move as a unit, look secure while defending (which was most of the time!), and we are showing signs of breaking with real intent. The Kane offside goal was a fast sweeping beautiful move.

But City were poor and we made our own luck - we weren't lucky to win but not completely convincing either. City really miss Aguero. We nullified them well, but still rode our luck with a couple of their attacks. So we shouldn't get carried away quite yet. Just be encouraged that we have a coordinated balanced team at last.

We can (will) improve how we use the ball when we do get possession. We still give the ball back too often and don't turn defense into attack as frequently as we might. There are still defensive blips from us where we give a free header away etc. But all the players are looking confident and secure knowing their role within the whole team unit.

I think maybe Mourinho would just consider a player like Tanganga, fresh from the academy, as an exra player rather than part of the core group of CBs to plan around?

Plus of course letting the chairman know you think you are light in certain aread isn't a nad thing...
