Serge Aurier

@Bedfordspurs - notice how we don’t look so weak at full back now that we no longer have a gaping hole in the middle of midfield?

Bingo and you are spot on, if any CM has not got players who can cover and tackle it will always make the defenders look poor. Its no surprise to me to see our defenders looking better and there are two main reasons 1, Jose has worked with them and got them playing better, 2, and this is the most important he has started to fill the BIG hole we have had in our CM.

One of his best yes. The biggest improvement is that Jose has managed to get him to stay on his feet. It makes a huge difference as his pace can always recovers situations. Just stand up and jockey. Its a huge improvement

Do you think having Ledley working with the defence has helped him as well?

What’s helped him is completion and keeping it simpler more and more
He is picking his friars runs more for example but when he does go forward he does so with more urgency for example
I’ll also add he is passing quicker generally

Real toss up between him and Doherty for first pick at the moment.

He does look less of a madman out there at the moment.

His touch is very good and looks happy dealing with it in tight spaces. (Kenneth Williams incoming.....)

I thought that one criticism about Mourinho was that players regressed under his coaching. I’ve seen no evidence of that. Aurier, along with others, seem to have benefited from change in management and he’s now found a new higher level.

Been unfair criticism in that case.

Like other very good managers he has players that respond very well to his methods, that fit into his system. Others either don't fit or don't respond.

I have seen some attempts at evaluating which players would fit into each category that have been premature. Things look different now than they did 6 months ago or even a couple of months ago.

There will be winners and losers, but as long as there are enough winners we profit as a club.

I think Aurier has edged Doherty slightly so far. Both have been overall good but Aurier has had two standout performances against Emirates Marketing Project and Manchester United. The competition is helping keep his attention and dedication. It's a good place to be.

Can’t really argue with that
