Tanguy Ndombele

I agree, unless folks have actually moved to a foreign country they probably fail to understand how sometimes its hard settle. Its the same for footballers, different customs, different game ( pace of our game in England) its not always easy and some players take longer then others.

I think language is a massive thing too for these lads moving. I'm 41 and have travelled quite a bit but always get freaked out a bit when I'm going somewhere that English is not spoken. To go and live in a country where you're struggling to communicate with the population must be very difficult and I take my hat off to anyone who manages it. I thought the guy in the Amazon doc explained the problems foreign players have very well. Sometimes as fans, some of us think "it's football so none of this stuff matters. Just do what you do for 90 mins each week". It's not that easy.

Fair play to Ndombele for coming back because I wasn't hopeful last season. It's still early days but he's showing a level of character I didn't think he had.

That is a major problem you are right, some can learn another language pretty quickly but for others it takes longer ( i include not just sportsmen in that), i have been lucky and worked in several Countries and one of the first things i did was to sign up for lessons. Doing that i found that the locals would cut me some slack, sadly from my experience its usually the English who expect others to speak English no matter where they are.

And the Irish. If someone doesn’t speak English and I’m in their country, I just speak louder and slower. Makes me very popular...

Do you get the "I love your accent, but I don't understand a word you're saying"?

Two things I always do in a non English language country, learn a few common phrases, and make sure I tell them I'm Scottish, NOT English.

Reminds me of a couple of old blokes around here that were sitting in the driveway when some tourists came by, asking for directions.
The tourist tried in english, german and French, but the old guys didn't speak anything other than Norwegian.
After the tourist left, without being any wiser, one of the blokes said:
- Maybe we should learn some other language
- why? Said the other. - Those guys knew many languages, but it didn't help them one bit!

^^ I like what he calls the "Top 4" in French

Anyone see his simple yet exquisite chest and turn before passing to Son, after another brilliant pass from Kane?

Also, love the above gif of that turn, hadn't seen that, absolutely beautiful!

Really exciting player we have here on our hands.
And that cheeky back heel before he got his toe trodden on in the second half. He’s that creative genius type whose actions can’t be predicted. Long May he continue to grace our eyes.

Indeed, he has a bit of magic about him and he will do things that not many players can/will do. If we can get him fully fit we will have a special player here.

I get what you're saying so please take this the right way, but "a bit" of magic is at least close to damning with faint praise [emoji6]

He has magic flowing through his vains. If you could bottle and sell that kind of magic it would be an illegal drug.

He only played for about an hour against WBA... His highlight reel for that alone would be enough for a season long YouTube compilation for many players.

Tanguy Ndombele, he's magic you know! (ducks for cover from die hard Poch fanatics).

Fair enough i take your point. My thoughts on him is that he could turn out to be our new Moussa Dembele but have more of a finish product about him.
