Absolutely hilarious from Crouchie on MOTD, regarding the free kick not given.
- It was nice to see VAR in action, and the going to the monitor to have a look.... and get the decision wrong, again.

:D:D:D

It was absolutely incredible. I wonder did he think he owed them one because of the two penalty calls in the first half? Did he feel he couldn't give us the benefit of a third decision.

I can't think of another explanation because even with my Spurs tinted glasses off, that's a foul all day long.

Look at everyone else, I reckon my 5 a side team could get a CL place in the PL this year.

We are comfortably the least brick team in the league imo.

yeah.lol the rest don.t look too hot this season. So far your right ..we are where we are because everyone else are playing brick!

I’ve watched the replay of the Doherty incident about 20 times now and I still can’t see anything in it?

the Kane one he knew what he was doing, backed in to Lallana.

He did have his hands on him before the ball gets crossed. Not sure it was a pen but there was a case for it.

So do Toby and Dier, as a partnership, nullify our offensive play with their lack of pace?

You could say that yes, if we press the ball from the front and the M/F join in then as you say there is a massive gap which opposition managers will take advantage of. That is if we assume that our pressing game is back to how it was under Poch, which it is not. As it happens i do not think Dier is slow anyway but Toby is unhappy at possibly getting caught out now because imo he knows his legs have gone.

It was a foul before the ball was passed
But he didn’t take his tumble until the ball had gone past him by which point he had been Let go
and on Kane’s foul, it was one you would get everywhere on the pitch other than in the area. It doesn’t matter if Llallana is watching the ball, he got no where near it and If the only way he could was to use Kane as a ladder surely that’s an infringement?

Doherty had his arm around the attackers neck, but released him as the ball was played in, and then the attacker collapsed to the floor to try to get the pen.
So they figured he over-acted to try to con the ref, but it was very nearly a penalty.

Toby has undoubtedly lost a yard of pace. He can still do it when we sit deep and was brilliant tonight. He reads the game very well. Dug Bale out of a big hole with 5 mins to go tonight when Bale carelessly let Welbeck go, Toby covered it brilliantly. Dier I've never thought of as quick but I think I've seen a few on here claim he is very quick. Maybe that's in a straight line though because to me, I always get the sense he's sluggish on the turn.

I know you won't agree with me, but if Sanchez is the alternative, I'd rather Toby and Dier. Maybe Rodon or Tanganga can come good for us because it is the one place we look weak and it's too important an area to be susceptible in.

Yeah I think that's a good summary. Kane was very clever though. He knew exactly what he was looking for and put himself in a great position to be fouled. Brainless from Lallana though.

I just wonder if those two played on the ref's mind when he's looking at the Hojbjerg one because it was a real head scratcher. That's two abysmal decisions involving Hojbjerg that cost us goals. The free awarded against him the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game was also laughable.

Isn't it leaving too much space between the lines though? If the attackers press, there's a massive gap between our midfield and attack where, rather than play a long ball, the opposition can have a man come short for it, have the freedom of half the pitch and turn on it?

If they press properly as a unit the short pass won’t be on.

Yeah the ref must have had a brain fart or something for the foul on PEH. It was blatant and reckless
The good thing off the back of this game is plenty of people are showing their hate for us again which means they fear what we could do this season again

Just watched the highlights on MOTD2. Didn’t realise when watching the game live just how good Sissoko was today. He was in every clip of the post-match analysis, breaking up play and making it difficult for the opposition.
He plays really well with Hojdjerg. He cleans up a lot of ball and is filling in a lot
He has his limitations but today our weakest link was Tanguy who played like last seasons Tanguy once he got booked.

We supposed to have our best squad in the last decade. Even some here have been saying we have a great chance to win the League this season. I can,t understand where the confidence is..we look flat. If we dont start playing better Jose could be gone before the season is out. I hope I am wrong..but this squad should be doing better!

There's a difference between form and quality. We have a good, well balanced team, with the only obvious weakness in central defence. Everyone else looks to have weaknesses too. Liverpool have lost their most important player, City look like they've had enough of Pep, Chelsea and Arsenal lack balance and United are brick.

We will never play them together unless we have no other options, they are too inexperienced at PL level to be in such a critical position, maybe in a couple of years.
