Not sure how it can cost us if it hits a guys arm and he gains an advantage from it?
He could have walked it out of play which is the basic option I’d agree but it doesn’t mean that the ball hitting a players arm up high is wrong does it?

It was a clear hand ball, I’d give PL defenders a thought game if the rules didn’t apply to me.

Alderweireld/Dier MoM for me. Surprised so many are down on Doherty. I think he looks fine, passes the ball faster and more creatively than Aurier and doesn't brick the bed every single time.
Very telling that Aurier wasn’t trusted in this one. The thought of him clumsily bumping in to wingers 25 yards out still gives me shivers, I guess it’s the same for Jose. Best to save him for rotation when Doherty needs a break or there’s not the threat of set pieces.

To be honest I'm not even sure what the handball rule is now, but their player's arm was down by his side and he had no way to move it out of the way it was a terrible piece of play from Dier, the right option was to just play an easy pass back to Lloris.

I thought he was poor. It was him and Davies that had all of the space to create for us and they did very little, they were both too slow to get forward, and too slow to get the ball away when they did get forward.

It was in his wrong foot facing his goal so a pass back may not have been as accurate as we would like
The arm was slightly raised but basically if you gain an advantage as an attacker form the ball hitting your hand in that phase of play it’s a handball
If his arm wasn’t there he doesn’t get the ball, hence the handball

He was poor
Him and Davies were a weak link
I’ll excuse Doherty as he normally has a man in front of him who plays as a winger, not a random run around
Davies as a left back is such a drop off attacking wise, but maybe he is better defensively as Jose said (About his aerial ability)

The one thing I will say for both of them is that they at least didn't make any really bad mistakes defensively (although that stray pass from Davies would've cost us a goal against a team with more quality). I get why Jose played both of them though. They were the right players to have defensively for Burnley's arial bombardment.

Thought Davies was really poor. Slowed down our play repeatedly in the first half particularly. But he stuck at it and he did make one fantastic block second half which showed a bit of bravery.

Reguilon is so much better offensively but Davies still has a role to play and as poor as him and Doherty were, they were part of a defence who yielded only one set-piece chance.

It’s not the first time he has done that
I think he is playing with nerves at left back
At CB he played like he knew his job well
Doherty got caught a few times on the turn and lost the ball

Hence why he kept him on
And as I said in the thread earlier, the set piece defending was much improved against a side who really are a threat too. The high line on the first free kicks was great

The threat of Vinicius Senior standing on the touchline ready to come on changed the game.
We really upped it at that point.

It was a poor performance; Burnley had a couple of chances they could bury.
We had 1 chance and buried it.

Ndombele is really finding his feet in the EPL. He looks like he's on another level in terms of awareness and time in central midfield. He might not have shone in this game but he looked solid to me and I predict that in future games he's going to impose himself on the opposition with early balls into Son/Kane/Bale. My MOTM although as the poll suggests, no-one really stood out.

He did a few things that were stunning - especially in the first half by the corner flag that ended with a poor shot. But he is energetic, moving into space to receive the ball, and he has that magic that makes opponents clueless as to what he'll do.

True but for some reason I felt we had better control of the game after scoring, compared to previous decades. Our game management needs some work but it feels like Jose is working on it and the results are beginning to show.
