We’re gonna win the league. I’m convinced. We can win spectacularly and we just won as ugly as you can win.

I can’t believe how pundits are discounting us. All Jose has to do is get/keep us defending well and manage the squad well.

It’s gonna happen.

It's there to be won - fantastic opportunity.

Let's see where we are after our mini run of tough fixtures coming up soon

Because we haven’t done it in 60 years. We have no credit in the bank with pundits. Neville summed it up tonight “Tottenham have struggled for 50 years with needing a cynical, ruthless, horrible streak you need to win leagues”. I agree with the players we have we should be up there. But we get a nosebleed anytime we get near 1st place. The only way I see us winning it is last day of the season we are 2nd/3rd and nick it at the death. We blow it whenever we have the chance to win and go top.

We may not like it but that’s the perception of our club. Blowing it when we have the chance to really achieve something even when we have fantastic players.

I dont get upset with pundits not giving us a chance, I think we can win it, I dont think we will and if I was a mutual pundit who has to pick a winner I would not pick us over Liverpool TBH.

But we could do it and I hope we do, but there is no trophy for pundits to like us, so they can do one, they mean F-All

It may have been a tinkle poor game but this is what Burnley do to teams. We were never going to score 5 goals and blow them away with counter attacking football.

Doherty spent 20 minutes trying to work out how to throw the ball.
Spot on. Other team has to attack to be able to counter attack.

I think we will gain a place a game right now
And see where that goes when we get the chance to go top which will happen
We’re good enough technically. Are we good enough mentally? I remain unconvinced but I don’t think it’s about ability anymore

Ah look, to be fair, I take the point. We’ve been flakey for a long, long time. But...

I think there’s a massive status quo bias amongst pundits. “It has to be City or Liverpool because they’ve been so dominant in recent years.”

To me, City under Pep look to be heading a bit Pochettino at Tottenham. They’ve lost Silva and Kompany without replacing them. They look flat. Liverpool under Klopp are being figured out. They leave so much space behind their back 4 and particularly their full backs that a Jose will ruthlessly expose that especially with Son, Kane and Bale leading the attack.

Looking at us, bar CB, I think we’ve the best squad in a league where the best CB in it is long term injured. I think pundits also don’t yet see the likes of GLC and Ndombele as top quality players which they will prove this year.

We are in with a great shout.

One thing that might count in our favour during an odd season is Mourinho's record/approach against the top sides. Taking points off the other top six sides could count for a lot.

The league is wide open. At this stage we need to focus on each game as it comes and then see where we are in the new year. Any team that puts a run together, is in with a good chance.
Yeah, Brian. At the end of the day it's the three points that count. Champion teams win ugly. Take it a game at a time at the end of the day. And at the end of the day we'll see where we are. The league doesn't lie jumpers for goalposts.

I dont care how brick the pundits or people on here think we were tonight, this was a fantastic result against an anti football team. It's so annoying to see their goal keeper wasting time at restarts and for it to be totally ignored by the official, yet an other sub standard performance from Mr Oliver.

Agree. Dier had a dodgy moment with the handball escape - but can’t think of much else they did wrong.
Could (and possibly should?) have cost us the game though. An absolutely ridiculous moment I thought.

I thought the whole team were OK overall other than Davies and Doherty who were poor. Both look a fair way behind the first choice two IMO. Pick of the other 9 for me was probably Ndombele who did something positive every time he got the ball.

Few standouts for me
Tanguy was great but still made some sloppy passes
Kane was decent as was son
The two CBS IMO won their battles
But Hojdjberg was outstanding again @milo
Pressing, chasing, passing. Immense
And I say that as one that didn’t want him

I’ll add that Davies and Doherty were a average to poor but their men never did that much 1 on 1 against them so maybe it’s an over reaction

Hugo took every corner he could too
It was Hojdbjerg's tackle that started the move that led to the corner that led to the goal. Margins.

It will be massive now
It’s 6 point swings on each game potentially

Not sure how it can cost us if it hits a guys arm and he gains an advantage from it?
He could have walked it out of play which is the basic option I’d agree but it doesn’t mean that the ball hitting a players arm up high is wrong does it?
