Pretty good summation from someone who can affect things:

"Giving credit to West Ham and try not to analyse our responsibilities on this result. It is easy for me to praise West Ham. They were losing 3-0 for the majority of the game. The game was controlled, they didn't have chances and then late in the game, they score and increased their belief. They were lucky but maybe they deserved that luck. We were unlucky but maybe we deserved that.

"Harry Kane hit the post. It could be 4-0. Bale can score the fourth and kill it. Out of context, based on free-kicks and and second balls, they found a style.

"We should be stronger. In the second half they risked quite a lot, pressing up and gave us more space. We should get an occasion to win the game.

"I don't know if it was us inviting them or with them with the extra motivation of getting in the game. I cant identify us or them, maybe both."

A lesson for players? "For the team, yes. For individuals, no."

It’s not all his fault but he’s not good enough and hasn’t been since 2018 and he needs to not play for us again. Think we can all agree we need much better than him right?
To say he should "not play for us again" after an own goal he was forced to react to is grand hyperbole. Maybe we should never let an attacker freely run into our box to cross the ball with 5 minutes remaining on the clock. Thats a far more relevant issue.

In fairness there is not a decent defense in the Prem thus far this season.

This hurt.

I genuinely thought Bale was passing that into the corner and could not believe it went wide. Had their comeback happened 10 mins earlier we win that game back IMO.

Yeh its far too easy to go OTT over that result today, I am more reflective, we played well, second half not so but you have to learn from that. First game will all new options available, if this was end of the season I would be tearing my hair out

1st and 3rd goals, stupid fouls given away which weren’t necessary
1st goal Sissoko not jumping and conceded the stupid foul
2nd goal the liability that is Sanchez
3rd goal Aurier giving away a silly foul

We lost all control of midfield when Tanguy went off

Kane was unlucky to hit the post and it was a poor miss from Bale

That's ridiculous. I agree that we should look to upgrade on him but played on his right side, he is a lot better and we need his pace.

It was like watching a Jol team once it went 3-1.

Maybe I under estimated Bergwijn defensive contribution, all 3 subs weakened us unfortunately but I guess when we say it’s 3-0 why don’t we rest x it give y some minutes this is the reason why. Moura is a completely different player on the left hand side of the pitch, if we are going to take Ndombele off for a ‘defensive’ mid then Is suggest we consider Doherty ahead of Winks. Davies claim for LCB has gone up too.

Clear our lines properly and the third goal doesn't happen. Sissoko should have done better for the first. Sanchez made a stupid mistake from an unfamiliar position for the second.

Long time since I felt this p.issed off. That is a result that is going to plant all sorts of doubts in the players’ heads.

I don't think so. Being an optimist I think it will be the last time we see this happen for some time. If there is one thing I look to this manager to do no, it is not let that happen three times in a season. He's had it twice, one was an awful VAR pen, this was a freak last second shot. Bears mentioning BTW that a fit Dier makes all the difference today IMO.

Absolutely!

He is not a left-sided CB!!!!!!!!

Or a right sided CB either. Too many flaws to be a premier league CB. He’s not the only who let us down today but for me he had one good season and has steadily got worse ever since. Think top 4 is the ceiling with Dier and Sanchez but I hope I’m wrong.

yep, fine margins.

9 times out of 10 we’d have seen that out.

At 3-0 Kane hit the post and at 3-2 Bale missed a one on one. Could easily have been very different.

I don't think that the subs had much of a bearing. They got a goal out of nothing and then got some renewed belief. If Sissoko jumps for the free kick, I think that we see the game out comfortably. Mistakes change games.

I have a lot of faith in Jose's in game management, it's second to none.

I used to wonder where we had captain material, now it's everywhere again. A strong spine, goal threats and full backs that work their gonad*s off.
Ooof. #Metoo

Yes.

No point digging out individuals today. The team played well for most of the game. We were unlucky, but we kind of bought the bad luck on ourselves with a few things - subs, some questionable defending, and not hitting them on the break.

But this wasn't the team letting Mourinho down - they performed - if anything maybe Mourinho will hold his hands up for us being too defensive and making all 3 subs. A few small issues all combined today. They can't tomorrow. We need to change our luck.

Kane is a shoe-in MoM for the first 30, then he goes walkabout again trying to be everywhere and we lose our shape up top. It has taken him and Son several years to learn not to stumble in each others feet, which we have seen the result of this season. They both have the ability to be brilliant creators, but it's only lately that they seem comfortable in doing so on a regular basis, not doing everything on their own.

So what's your point?

I'm still just shocked at what just happened there. They had somewhat of a threat in the beginning of the second half, but we got back in control. And then we concede 3 in the last ten. What the absolute fudge. Football can be so brutal. Did not see that coming.

I wish I had your faith in Dier. I don’t see any more than a 6/10 defender who has mistakes in him like Sanchez does. I know plenty on here are in a rush to make him next captain but I just don’t see it. I like his mentality and fight but as a CB he’s got a lot of improving to do.
