Tanguy Ndombele

I think comparisons to Dembele are sound. They do have some similarities and differences.

The reason it's sound is to have any similarities is amazing because outside of the Ndombele/Dembele bubble virtually noone is like either of them.

Edit: perhaps YaYa is a bit like Ndombele?
I guess it's his physique that means he gets compared more to those players.

His skill set is fairly rare, but the ability to go past players with ease in central midfield combined with real creativity on the ball isn't limited only to those few players. Modric, Iniesta, De Jong, Thiago etc. None of those comparisons are perfect either, but to me no more or less perfect than the Dembele comparisons.

Had he been called Niniesta perhaps that would have been the more obvious comparison. Not saying he will be THAT good necessarily.

Niniesta :D

Which is what I have been saying all along; give the guy some time to settle, and he'll be amazing!
He's had some time to settle, and given a run of games, and low and behold, he's playing amazing!
Who could have seen that coming.....

Agreed and seconded.

Time to settle is one factor for sure.

What we saw a lot of times last season was also about fitness, discipline, work rate. Those were hurdles that had to be overcome in addition to time to settle.

Unlike some players that primarily need time to settle he took very quickly to the PL in terms of what he did on the ball. He was, and is, outstanding even after stepping up a level.

Time will tell what happens when he truly settles. He still only has 14 PL starts and quite a few of those were in a largely dysfunctional team. I'd argue that he's perhaps not quite settled yet.

Hopefully we won't see a regression on the other issues.

Not that brick again.
Hahaha.

Last time I clearly remember that being an ongoing discussion on here was about Vertonghen. He ended up a top class player, long time servant for the club and from everything I could see a true professional.

Let's go again. If the upside is the same I'll handle some pointless discussions on here.
