New TV and Soundbar

I have two Sonos Ones dotted around the house but in terms of the tv the Playbase is more than sufficient. Like you say, it provides a clearly noticeable boost to the sound from the tv. Its a soundbar on steroids I guess.
What's the Playbase like for speech and music, is there a need for a sub as well?
And I'm thinking of a couple of Sonos One's for my office and ditching my old kit. I just use it for Alexa and music. Is there sufficient base on them?

HDR is a bigger incentive for me to upgrade my plasma to an OLED tbh.
Make sure you get one that supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Most support HDR10, as its open source with no fee, but Dolby Vision is closed, and manufacturers have to pay a fee to implement it.

Playbase, depends on the size of the room i guess, works fine in my lounge. You can adjust tone within the app.

Sonos ones are ridiculously good for what they cost. The new voice activated version, move i think its called is possibly even better. Base is good. I’ve got two Ones and the Playbase.

The Sonos Move are £400 each  I think I’ll pass and stick to the Ones! And just plug my echo in, that should sort it?
The Sony A9G TV 'sounds' interesting. Ive been told the sound is good! Anybody heard or seen one?

are your ones gen2

The ones have voice activation in them as well, you can get them with or without it and the price difference is only about £20. If you wait till Black Friday then there's usually deal if you buy more than one sonos speaker.

What’s different between generation 1 and generation 2?

I actually have the play 1 which is even older but I found this article comparing them - https://www.automationwake.com/sonos-one-gen-1-vs-gen-2-what-changed/

If anything the play 1 has better sound than the one, nice cleaner compact bass punch but it's not a dramatic difference.

Checked my invoice and I got 3 One SL's for £149 each on black friday last year, they are £179 on the sonos website now.

Also got these stands for the living room -

Finally made my mind up and got Sony 65 AG8 + Sonos Arc, both sitting in the hall still in their inboxes. Will get Sonos sub when I've saved some pennies.

I've had a Playbase for coming up to 3 years.
The Wifi card stopped connecting recently, and being out of warranty, I was expecting it to cost a bit, or to be without for awhile. But I spoke to Sonos chat on the website, and they sent out a completely brand new Playbase this week, and I sent the old one back afterwards, no charge or anything. Always been happy with how it sounds, too.

I think I saw the Playbase is technically discontinued now though?

You took your time! I reckon you’ll enjoy the new kit, i still enjoy mine every time i turn it on.

Have a look at reconditioned ones on the Sonos website. You can normally pick up some good deals there.

I've got a Sonos Beam that I am very happy with and am going to add some Ones to it.

@StephenH the IKEA Sonos speakers might be worth looking at for rear speakers, if you are on a budget. The reviews that I've read have been pretty positive.

Excellent choice! I have a 55" OLED but slightly wish I went with 65 (it wouldn't have been as big as I first thought).
Once it's setup download the Dolby Vision app, the demos are very good (as is Netflix / Amazon 4k HDR content, both can look incredible).

...just dont throw a pint glass at it if we lose :)

Ta for that.

I'm going to live with the Arc (very sweet sound) till next year UNLESS is see the sub at a giveaway price. (the wife said;))
