Dele Alli

I’ve stated more than once I agree there are extenuating circumstances for his form; injuries, failing to replace players, being played out of position. So no that isn’t my position.

He wasn’t played out of position for 3 years. At the start he was. I accept its a factor and possibly it was the catalyst for the initial lack of goals but that was years ago now so it’s not relevant to even this season, last season or the season before that tbh.

Maybe i need to work on my reading, or you need to work on your delivery then because :

Well, some posters have claimed his regression/lack of progression is due to the factors outlined above rather than Alli underperforming or not improving his own game

Makes it sound like you don't agree there are reason for his form/stunted development the past couple of years.

I'd disagree that he hasn't been played out of position or in a new role the past couple of seasons - I'd say it's pretty clear he's no longer played how he was when part if the DESK front line. I'd say he was being asked to do what Lo Celso is currently doing due to our CM options being so brick offensively. It didn't suit him and he couldn't adapt/develop that part of his game and both he and the team suffered as a result.

This has got pedantic tbh but to sum up I’d say I disagree to the extent of the factors for his loss of form. Don’t see the point prolonging this so I’ll leave it there.

Well done Dele, really pleased for him. Looked a happy chap as well, no chip on the shoulder.

Yep, agreed. I still think the onus is on him to force his way into the team though given that Mourinho isn't going to change the shape to suit Dele....and I'm still not sure how he gets in a team with Bale, Son and Kane.

Would be good to have him confident and back on the upward trajectory though, and hopefully this is the start

He will need the continual support he has been getting, but he also has to make some decisions in his life. I hope he makes the right ones, because he is a fantastic talent and always has been.

Pretty much how i see the situation as well.

Could you imagine if Jose gets Dele back on form and Ndombele playing near his potential. I’d need a rethink of what I think good man management is because I’ve been critical of how he’s handled both. If he can do it, it’d give us frightening options. Liverpool are scary going forward because they have two full backs who can play football and three outstanding forward players who gel so well. It’s one dimensional but is hard to stop. With Reguilon, Doherty bombing down the wings, Lo Celso and Ndombele pulling the strings, with Kane, Son and Bale up top and Alli, Moura, Lamela & Bergwijn as options as well as a new centre forward we’d be quick, lethal and multi dimensional. It’d be a nightmare for oppositions to prepare properly to play against us.

It’s only one sub appearance from Dele against a poor team but fudge it, I’m gonna get myself carried away. It’s what we do isn’t it?

It's the hope that kills us. Every. Damn. Time.

Lovely bit of skill in the build up to the pen

That's what I love to see in our players, any pro can pass 10 yard balls sideways, it's that bit of magic linked with the confidence and ability to deliver it that lift him above others. He seems to me immature and needs lots of cuddles to boost his confidence, but hes getting to a stage where he needs to grow as a person to fulfill his potential. I have always believed there is a special player there and I'm desperate for him to prove it.

Good for him last night. Showed signs of the old Dele Alli, his bit of skill for the penalty was up there with Moura's Cryuff turn a few minutes earlier

I think the challenge he has been given is get in the team as an 8, as there isn’t a free role as a 10 any more. I’m wondering if he and ndombele need to convince Mourinho that they can play with enough discipline to partner GLC and Hojbjerg, so it will be any two of the three as opposed to just one of them. Winks would the deputise for Hojberg.

Ndombele GLC Dele would be a fantasy option against a bus parking team!

I have noticed the last couple of games Moura seems to be spinning nicely away from players with his back to goal rather than going for his usual almost falling over whilst sweeping the ball with his right foot technique!
