You missed the point i was making, there were a LOT of fans bitching about Levy not staying around to get the stadium built, if you did not hear/know any/many who were saying that then you must have never been on the social media merry go round it was full of it. The signings have been a mixed bag i will give you that but ALL transfers have a risk and ALL clubs make bad ones.

I have worked in football for most of my life and have not often (if at all) seen a club who has not made bad signings, some of them have just not worked out for lots of reasons.

@parklane1 - have you just outed yourself as a social media junkie? :D

NTwins, Janssen, Sissoko joined before Hitchen returned to the club.

In terms of cost and if they were a success:

Sanchez - £40m - Club record signing when he joined. Excellent first season, has not pushed on since. Important member on the first team squad. Unlikely to get our money back if we sold right now. Can we hold that against the scout?

Gazzaniga - Undisclosed - 22 appearances for us since joining and 1 international cap. I've never been a fan but I remember you calling for him to be first choice in the past. We'd probably make a profit if we sold.

Foyth - £11.7m - 16 first team appearances for Spurs and 10 international caps since joining. It hasn't turned out how we would have wanted and doesn't look like he's wanted by the current manager. There appears to be interest in him from other clubs and we might make a marginal profit on him.

Aurier - £22.5m - 58 first team appearances since joining. It looks like he has lost his first place position to Doherty this summer. He's a mixed bag, can be effective going forward but prone to mistakes. Improved under Mourinho. We are unlikely to make a profit on him if we sold.

Llorente - £13.59m - 36 appearances over two seasons. Leaving on a free transfer last summer. A useful squad player but limited how we could play. Played an important part in last season's CL run.

Moura - £25.56m - 74 appearances in the two and a half years he's been with us. A key player in our CL run last season. A key player for Mourinho.

Ndombele - £54m - Club record signing. Disappointing first season. Was in high demand when we signed him.

Lo Celso - £28.8m - 14 appearances last season, cementing his place in the first team after Christmas. Looks like a good signing and we'd make a profit if we were to sell.

Sessegnon - £24.3m - Peripheral figure in his first season. Yet to settle in a position. Still only 20.

Clarke - £9.9m - spent last season on loan and doesn't look likely to be in the squad this season.

Fernandes - loan - 7 appearances since joining in January. I think that he was probably bought in as cover following Sissoko's injury. A crazy £50m sale fee in his loan agreement.

Bergwijn - £27m - 15 appearances since January and would have been more if he hadn't got injured. Made an instant impact.

And not a single one of them has improved us. No adequate replacements for Walker, Rose, Verthongen, Dembele or Eriksen - and no backup striker. I would call that an unmitigated failure in our transfer dealings. And at what cost? Simply huge sums paid out - and very little return.

People were saying the same about Commoli around the time Ramos got sacked, then a year later a few of the signings looked bargains.

Im hoping Ndombele, Sess, Lo Celso, Bergwijn etc. Do the same.

That's the best part of £300m (you left out Lo Celso's initial loan fee).
Only one of them is in the current starting 11 and he's about to be replaced. Another would have likely gotten in if he wasn't injured.

Three ...hundred....million. Just let that sink in.

It's interesting to note how our transfer activity (and rumours of links) have shot up since Trevor Birch started with us....

I think our transfer activity has improved once our focus was no longer on the stadium build .. no question for me, it consumed the club's attention to a detrimental effect on transfers and contracts ..
