Jose Mourinho - SACKED

See I would blame him. From day one he's said he loves the squad, loves the players and thinks they're good enough to kick on with.

If he were to bail when it all gets a bit tough, it would be very disappointing. Not surprising, but very disappointing.

It would be disappointing indeed but not end of the world. It has been "a bit tough" for a few years now and let's face it, we're not winning anything any time soon for the well known reasons. He will be 28 next year and if he wants to go and we can get in 2-3 world class talents it would certainly damp the disappointment and probably improve us overall.

Apologies I thought you were referring to Jose.

Edit: why are we discussing Harry Kane in the Mourinho thread?

Yes it is, rewatch his opening interviews and pressers. He speaks glowingly of the squad on a number of occasions. The whole squad, not just Harry Kane.

What's Harry Kane have to do with Mourinho staying or going anyway? If Harry wants to leave, we'll sell him for hundreds of millions and reinvest.

I think more and more it's looking like Kane is on his last contract here, he's certainly coming out with more regular soundbites about needing to win something.

He was also totally sympathetic with Eriksen wanting a fresh challenge... If Jose leaves because we sell one player, it's still a total cop out.

I was talking about having no issues if Harry Kane was to leave; i wasn't talking about Jose just to clarify.

Harry Kane has said in his interviews in more recent years that he's stay as long as club showed same ambition that he has.
He last signed a contract in summer 2018 and it's a lucrative one (6 years i believe) so he has no need to sign any further ones

Yeah my bad, didn't realise I was in the Harry Kane thread.

Right now we’re not showin ambition. We’re showing arguably efforts to just maintain the status quo but that’s it

His squad mates let him down. If they showed the same will to win Harry did we would at one of PL or CL champions.

i accept that Steff and my post was not aimed at anyone specific, but if you go over the posts you will see the ones who are having a field day on Jose are generally those who made a lot of negative noise when he was given the job. I fully understand that not every fan likes him but its ONE fudging game into a season and some are filling their boots already.

Fair enough mate. I must admit, I was not happy BUT I have tried to remember that he has to be given what he wants/tools. I understand that he wants the Madrid LB and that the LB is key to any Bale loan. This is possibly Levy's final moment (whether fair or not) to make a statement of intent at a moment in time where we need one. If we get those two, this season could be a lot more fun for us and Mourinho.

Honest question: Do you really think it's just got 'a bit tough'? Was the horrible league form in Poch's last season not tough? Was all of last season not tough? Is the fact that the club is saddled with huge amounts of debt with the massive revenue stream of the stadium gone (meaning that we can't splash cash on players needed to win trophies) a tough situation that might mean Kane doesn't win a trophy? I think he's been loyal, well rewarded for that loyalty, and if he does go it's fine.

Jose at today's press conference: "Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid player and I don't talk about players from other clubs. It's not my job to have contact with agents and I don't want to comment."

Also Jose at same press conference: "I tried to sign him during my time at Real Madrid and the president followed my instinct and knowledge and the season I left, he brought Gareth to the club. That's no secret and Gareth knows that."

:D:D

I bet Jose is really entertaining at dinner with friends.

Damn right, it was IMO one of the worst displays i have seen from us i have not denied that.

I've been very vocal but didn't have a view on him joining. From my perspective I have high standards and for me you sack one man and appoint Jose I expect better. The jobs tough but that's why he is paid the money, too tough don't take the job.

I don't think it's wrong to criticise the bad and ask tough questions of someone who has a reputation of winning it all.

We would want goals from a star striker signing, this is no different in my opinion.

So if, IF, IF, Reguilon and Bale are really about to sign for us, how does that change the issues with our gameplan etc that we saw on Sunday?
Any thoughts?

Ndombele
working hard but not ready for 90
Gio is back, Aurier has a small problem but Tanganga is out
No problem with Alli and the decision didn’t benefit the team as intended.
Can’t speak about Bale but he knows the reason Madrid signed him was because I told them to do so before I left!
Kane will play but 8 will stay at home.
Dier straight bat on Bale, Dele, busy schedule, disappointed about Everton, Joe Hart is a big addition the the group.

I think he will play Bale in the old Eriksen role and more central as the pivot to Alli and Son

More likely to be starting out left or right and given free roam to drift inside. That's how he plays for Wales now anyway.

He doesn't really have blistering pace anymore (I don't think) but can still be devestating in front of goal and takes up great positions.
