The all new Striker thread..

You obviously don't watch much football. He's been a pretty prolific goalscorer in the Dutch, German and Portuguese league for a decade! But he's very limited. He's big. That's it.

Don't watch a lot of any of the above. I can see he has 1 goal in 18 for the Dutch national team and retired at 28. Doesn't fill me with any confidence.

I'm thinking this looks a Rasiak/Janssen type signing.

Rasiak and Jenssen were very different players.

They were very different from each other too. Same end result as I predict we'll get with this lad...abject failure.

Sorry to be a pessimist but this screams all the wrong noises for me. Still better than no one though I guess...

Jesus Christ, we all laughed at Danny Rose and his Google comments but who didn't have to Google this fella? This is soul destroying.

Doherty and Hjobjerg were good signings but they aren't gonna get us back into the top 4. This fella most certainly isn't. We need to supplement these sorts of players with a signing that shows intent. If we don't, we're gonna be fighting Wolves/Arsenal/Everton for a Europa spot and we could be the worst of that bunch.
Intent you say?

I'd argue Bale would completely change our setup and we could live without a striker for now. So many options.

Bale - Kane - Son
Bale - Son - Bergwijn
Son - Dele - Lucas
Lamela - Bale - Lucas

A truly fluid front three where we are not relying on one man to score all of our goals.

I agree it gives us more flexibility, but any combination with Lamela or Moura in looks like a line-up for a game or two or cup competitions, rather than a sustainable team in the PL. Bale-Kane-Son looks awesome but think we still need a CF

Doesn’t Bale play up top for Wales? Got a feeling he’ll get moved from AM to forward (similar to Son) when Kane needs a rest.
