I don't think it is financially responsible for us to sign Bale. Appreciate the nostalgia surrounding this but if we are willing to even pay half his wages - I would much prefer going after someone else.

But someone else on the level of Bales wages would also command a hefty transfer fee. There is no one of Bales ability available on a free transfer that’s for sure.

Would love us to get him, if it doesn’t work out then at least for once we tried rather than just go for a cheap option that has as much chance of failing but for different reasons.....

It's £14m for a years wages. We're looking at £20m for some of the other fellas? +Wages.

To cut it another way if Bale transfer fee was £9m and you had to pay him 100k a week...you'd do it...even just for a year.

The same as we got when we sent him over there. The ability to say to their fans that "we have a special relationship with Tottenham" to save some face.

They can also have the modern-day equivalent of Paulinho, Chiriches, Capoue and Soldado...can we round up three other posters to join me in signing for Madrid?

I normally roll my eyes when there's Gareth Bale questions most windows, every year. Finally, this is a window when I don't think I can. From what I understand Spurs are genuinely having a go for a loan and if they can get Real Madrid to help out a lot, I think it might happen.
