Harry Kane MBE

I agree , Southgate is handing out caps like sweets. It was a poor side. My wider point is he can’t be immune from being dropped. Regardless of the side he was in ,he only looked sharp in the last five minutes of the game.
I thought he looked fine myself but literally had nothing to play off
Looked better once mount was on and again another level with Grealish on
The alternatives are much inferior

Good for him to get some mileage on the clock over the last two games, given the lack of pre season.

Nothing to worry about here, in the mid-long term at least.

This, we (for once) benefitted from this, he's get's two games under his belt, hopefully leaves the rustiness with England.

Outside of injuries, nothing to worry about with Kane.

He always looks a bit undercooked at start of the season.
The Grealish and Mount thing is interesting as we don’t have a player of that type at spurs. Someone who wants to pick passes through the lines. Ndombele aside. Will be interesting how Kane fairs this season. Think Jose will want him to be his big unit up top with runners ofF him.

We will see.

I think we do have those players in the argies for a start and also Bergwein is a great passer but we haven’t seen enough of him yet. But all mount did was actually live off his marker and keep it simple, which was effective. Movement for England is really really bad and having propel like Rice who simply put struggles with the ball IMO it shows. The England team missed winks yesterday and I know some fans don’t rate him but you notice players when their ain’t there

I really don’t rate Rice at all and think he’s an extremely limited player. Dier would (has?) do a better job for England in CM than he’s shown for them so far.

I think they’re having to persevere with him regardless of form given the fuss they went to to steal him from Ireland.

Yeah maybe
I rate him but think he so only suited when we don’t have the ball
Games like yesterday and last week are now when we need him

Bergwrien does look a talent. Still not sure we have to much creativity in our side. We have not replaced Eriksen ,even when he was off colour he was our tempo setter.

Can’t see SB being that guy or Lo Celso. That’s why I think it will be a more direct style with the runners off Kane.

England are mediocre. Not sure Winks is the answer either . I’m in the camp of he’s just a steady player.

all fair views
I think Bergwein has so much to offer and was arguably under used whilst settling in last season
Winks for me is a player that keeps the ball moving which sounds simple but appears to be a rare skill, which is why he gets played by every manager he has had
Eriksen is a huge loss but we’re talking about the second most creative player in the league when he was here. We have and are adapting our style to suit that change and we were over reliant on him anyway. Would love a motivated Eriksen back here though

Think it will be a very interesting to see where SB plays and how he progresses. I do wonder if Winks will play much now we have Singed Højbjerg. Can see Jose stick Sissoko alongside him.

Time will tell . But back on topic of Kane I hope he has a good season and does not get run into the ground like previous . He desperately needs back up.

On very much in the PEH is crap camp so I need to see him step up, which I would love to see

I don’t think Kane gets run into the ground but his injuries don’t help that record

he only looked sharp in the last five minutes of the game.
1. He had no service and Southgate's team selections were amazingly pedestrian given the opposition. Sancho did nothing at all.
2. He scored against Iceland, wrongly ruled out
3. He scored against Denmark but for a goal-line clearance

Still looked sluggish. And my original point was that Kane seems to be untouchable for England as he’s the captain.

This always happens whenever England decide on a specific striker. They will play no matter their club or international form. Happened with Rooney and Shearer previously.

Lineker Owen Rooney Shearer Kane, all deserved to play whatever. Loads of charlatans challenged them, but they were the real deal.

fair point, even when there were options there was/is a world of difference between first and second choice

Lineker/Owen/Kane have had periods of being unquestionably the best striker on the planet, let alone the best striker in England

fudge this guy, takes a week off of pre season prep to play international friendlies then puts in that level of effort, wasn’t even at 10% today.

Needs a kick up the arse.
