The all new Striker thread..

I think that it is best to judge our transfers as a whole, at the end of the window. So far we have addressed the obvious gaps and signed players better than what we had in that position. Deeney wouldn't be my first choice but he would fit with that. If it leaves us with money to spend elsewhere, then that needs to be taken into consideration. Deeney plus Daka, for instance, would leave us quite strong up top and give us a range of options and allow Daka time to settle.
I'm totally with you in viewing our business as a whole.
But we're not Gonna sign Deeney plus Daka! We'll not sign TWO strikers this window. It will be one, or perhaps none.

Are there truly no strikers that are willing to come to Spurs? Janssen came and after that we have had zilch in signing young strikers to partner Kane. None want to come even on loan?
It's not the strikers being unwilling to join, it's the club being unwilling to invest good money into a position in which we already have Kane.

The forward positions are the more difficult to fill than others due to the need for quality and a willingness to pay the money required.

We really should have put more effort into Janssen.

I agree with that. As for signing a new striker i think some fans fail to understand its not just about the amount of money we are willing to spend, there are not many players who will be content to accept that they will only be seen as a back up for Kane and only used mostly to have sub chances and the odd game when Kane gets rested ( something i doubt Kane would be happy with anyway).

This season money is the issue
We tried to signed Morata... he said he wouldn’t sign because of Kane and said that publicly
That would have been a £50m deal so money wasn’t always the issue... players ambition can be

I don't think anyone wants to play second fiddle to Kane and unless they are prepared to do that or can play out wide as well they won't come here. We want a proven central striker not a replacement for Son or Lucas.

strange though as arsenal play their best striker as a wide forward
A capable player will get opportunities

The striker name being bandied around today by socalled ITKers and also media in Portugal is Carlos Vinícius from Benfica.

Dont know much about him, apart from being a Mendes client...

Have we been linked with Carlos Vinícius at all? Just looking at strikers represented by Mendes. He wouldn't be cheap but it might be possible if we shift some deadwood first.

:D

Benfica may not be a bad source for a striker. Raul Jimenez came from there, wikipedia tells me with not as good a record as this guy, and he's fared well enough. The Portugese league is a reasonable one for striker to prove himself in.
