Tanguy Ndombele

Be interesting how the Ndombelly situation pans out. If he cant make the first game of the season then its telling for me after this time to get fit.

He'll be a part of the team this season, and we'll need him. Almost every game he featured, he created in terms of goals or assist. I'm confident we'll see a better version of Ndombele this season.

Good signs with the quotes from Mourinho, saying he’s working harder than ever and that he has huge potential. Will be like a new signing....
Definitely encouraging quotes. I also like that he pointed towards him keeping that up being key.

If we can get him up and running physically, mentally, doing even an adequate job defensively he can be a real game changer this season.

Anyone think Jose might play him as a no.10 at times, particularly when Alli’s rested? (Or as a second no.8 in a 4-3-3?)

Just conscious that we’ve already got Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Winks and Sissoko who were ahead of him in pecking order last season - might be tough for him to get loads of time in a CM duo. Whereas we don’t currently have loads of depth in more attacking options.

Fully agreed. More to the point, I absolutely don't trust him in a CM duo - defensively, a repeat of his horror show against Burnley and his lack of tracking back would leave his midfield partner, our defense and Mourinho hyperventilating, and rightly so.

If he gets his head right, there's a space for him as a backup No.10 when Dele needs some rest or has to ponder the mysteries of life, like the proper toothpaste procedure or the best chocolate bars. That's where he might get his break.

If he consistently works hard at No.10, tracks back, does the dirty work, looks relentless - then, 2021-2022 is when I can see him become a regular further back.

I think a second 8/box to box role in a 4-3-3 suits him better than being a #10. Of course he can get games there with the amount of fixtures we have coming up and it would give him a chance to prove himself while being less of a liability defensively assuming he needs time to get up and running.

Hopefully this season will be a very different story to last season for him.

I wonder whether he's shown enough to start today, given GLC and Winks probably won't start. Its Ndombele (probably only for an hour) or Sissoko alongside Hjobjerg - maybe team Ndombele to assume he's playing for an hour so burn himself out over that period, and then bring him off rather than him trying to pace himself for a full 90, which he's probably not up to yet?

Doubt it considering his lack of pre season minutes
But if he has turned a corner in training we will see him very soon. He does need to do it on the pitch in games though

Understand that, but if Ndombele and GLC are both semi-fit at best, will we play them both on Thurs? I think you'd want each of them to play either today or Thurs....so its either one today and one thurs, or both together on Thurs. Perhaps Thurs works if Ndombele plays as the no 10 and say GLC alongside White in CM or something like that

I don’t think either starts today and maybe one mid week
Today he will IMO play PEH with Sissoko with winks in reserve to come in when we need to keep the ball
