Could Dier move to midfield for this one, surely not Sissoko? Dele? Will Jose stick with Lucas and Sissoko on the wings?

Spurs v Everton - team news
Japhet Tanganga is sidelined for our Premier League opener against Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (4.30pm).

The young defender has a thigh injury.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho will make a late decision on the fitness of Gio Lo Celso (hamstring).

Jose had good news as he prepared the squad this week as all of our players returned safely from international duty.

"The players have come back without injury, which is a very positive thing, and we are together for two training session and we start the season," said Jose. "The majority of the team, apart from three, know each other well for quite a long time, and the fact I've been with them for the past 10 months makes it easier for me, because in this moment, I don't need to adapt and the players don't need to adapt to me, because we know each other already, so I think we are ready."

Excited!

Midfield is the big conundrum as the Lemonade man says. If Winks is fit he might get the nod. If Ndombele has shown he's sharp - likewise he could stake a claim, he did alright in the first game of the season last season. Though most likely he'll be eased in via the Europa games if Mourinho has other fit options. Which basically means Sissoko or Winks.

Somehow we have to show some confidence and power in midfield to run games. It is what we've been lacking.

I have no idea who played in pre season or what formations we used, but perhaps something like this:

Lloris
Doherty - Dier - Toby - Davies
Højberg - Lo Celso
Bergwijn - Dele - Son
Kane

Not what I would pick but based on match fitness, injuries and Jose's favourites (Moura) my money is on:

Lloris

Doherty
Dier
Toby
Davies

Hojbjerg
Sissoko

Moura
Dele
Son

Kane

Sissoko has plenty of power just no quality.
