Sergio Reguilon

Talk of united getting him now
With him and Upamecano they would have a brilliant defence and all 3 plus DVB for the same money as Sancho roughly
Who would have thought united would do solid business. Maybe Ole does know what he is doing :(:(

They haven't signed either yet though have they?

It's better than it first looked.
Initially I thought it could be ankle ligament damage, and that's the sort of thing that could scupper a deal - especially in these interesting times.
He's since said he'll be back in a week so, no problem.

They are being linked with Telles for left-back position

Unless he can play centre back, then I’m unsure why we are after him. He is a good attacking left back, but Mourinho has had us playing with an attacking right back, and a left back that doubles as a centre back, giving us a back three when our right back has gone missing in the opposition box.

I think our squad is more to a back 4 in that way due to the attacking threats in Son, and Bergwijn as wingers/inside forward. So, adding a left back that also disappears up the pitch will leave us seriously exposed in defence especially as seems, from friendlies, that Hoijberg wasn’t bought go play a sitting DM role.

I'd take this guy on board. Looked great for Sevilla and there's no reason why we have to be married to just one attacking fullback on only one side. Would give us some options, like we had when Walker and Rose were at their best.

But the buy-back clause looks to be a killer in this potential deal. With it, a transfer amounts to little more than a glorified loan.

Can play Tanganga RB and switch up the power play

It shouldn’t be. It could be set to only kick in in two years time for example. As we’re cash poor right now we could also possibly also set a low buy-back for a lower fee.... i.e. we pay £20m now and they can buy him back for £30m in summer 2022. If he ends up being worth more than £30m they hey-ho, we’ve had a £30m+ full back playing for us for 2 years for nothing (as the profit pays his wages).

Apparently we turned our nose up at the deal for Ceballos a year ago as it was just a loan, Arsenal stepped in and now they’ll have him in their team for another season.

‘if we haven’t got the big money for the best signings at the top table then we need to realise we’re feeding off of scraps and make the best use of those.

I think Levy would reject that kind of deal.

I get what you're saying, but I think it goes against what we want to do as a club. We want deals that make sense long term too.

If he was the only potential solution, the perfect fit, if we were desperate, then maybe. I don't think that's the case.

The opportunity cost could be massive. If we did the deal you suggest, but at the same time a different player could have been signed that didn't include a buyback clause... I think we'll look for that different signing.

I really struggle to see this one happening given our number of overseas players already and CB is likely to be higher priority... which means needing to sell 2 overseas players (assuming CF is foreign) even before you get to a LB. Aurier and Gazza are perhaps two obvious departures - who is the 3rd if we're getting Reguilon?
