FAVOURITE AWAY GAME(S)

Only opportunity for me to see spurs was pre season friendlies when they would come up to Glasgow.
Twice at ibrox in the 80s and once at celtic Park in the 90s.
Sad bugger me.

The 4-4 game at the death star. I was going with a friend who is a gooner, but a nice one. He just loves football, and is very knowledgeable, also about spurs. He knows more facts and stats about spurs (and any other club) than I do.
Anyway, we were sat in a posh box, filled with gooners (obviously), and a fair few arsenal legends. When the equaliser went in, I could not contain myself, and went mental, and my newly poured pint went flying in the air, and most of the content hit David Seaman
He wasn't pleased, but later told me he was fine with it, as he liked seeing that people were passionate about the game and their club. He was a very nice guy.

How I did not mention that one I do not know! What a night!
Weirdly, it began for me with tea with Tom Araya in the hotel we both happened to be staying in, and me trying to explain where I was going later...then me deciding whisky would be a good idea...then a few beers. Yeah, you are right, when that 4th went in OMG it was as good as a winner! I just stood with my finger pointed at the upper deck of frothing gooners!!! As we got to 90 mins at 4-2 down, my mate said we should go to beat the traffic. I refused, saying I never leave before the final whistle on principle. Oh yes! Nice one Kandi...

Looking back it was a great night, but pre-kick-off and during most of the match, is probably the most nervous I have ever been at a game. But at the final whistle, up there with the most emotional moment of supporting Tottenham. Being kept behind for 45 minutes let us soak it up even more.

Probably my favourite away day for performance and atmosphere. That night we were just f#ckin awesome, we could have scored 10, we were that good. Walking back to the car was the only time in 50 years of supporting Spurs I truly felt we could win the league. Just a brilliant night

Notable mentions go to 3-1 at Swansea(Jan 2014) for the gang that were around us that had us stitches and the 5-1 League cup win at Doncaster Rovers (2009) as we top at the time and it felt good, but my third choice goes to

A pile-up on the M6 meant we nearly turned round, as it was, we got there just before HT and 1-0 down. We turned it round Kane's late deflected free-kick winner was one of the best moments I have witnessed live. I have watched the footage of our celebrations time and time again on YouTube and still get goosebumps. What looked like being a cr@p day out/waste of time, turned out to be one of my favourite awaydays


Sadly, it looks like Away Days will be a thing of the past for me and Mrs PaxtonWolf due to only being Bronze Members, but that's how it goes I'ma afraid. Love reading threads like these though

One game i will never forget was the last game we played the season after we got relegated. We were tinkling the League early doors but from March we started to struggle only winning 2 of our last 8 games and were in danger of blowing promotion back to the top division.

We went into our last game at Southampton( who were 2nd in the table) needing a result, the game was brick and we once again struggled but we got a point and meant we finished third and got promotion on goal difference from Alan Mullerys Brighton.

It was a relief because we had really played some great stuff for most of the season and nearly blew it. It was a great trip home i can assure you.

Ah yes great stuff mate, I remember the game but a season before I started to go with any regularity. Describe The Dell for people who don't know would you? It must've been mental that day...

It was mental that day because we looked like we may have blown our chances of a immediate return to the top league and us fans were hoping that we could get a point, Southampton were above us in the table and we had played brick for a while.

Thankfully we managed to get the point that put us in third and promotion. The scenes after the game were as you say mad ( a lot of it was down to relief that we had not thrown it all away) and we ended up sleeping in the car after a few beers to celebrate.

I know its may sound daft but i really enjoyed the season overall, got to visit a lot of grounds i had never been to before ( only missed one away game at Hull) and we took places over and at a lot of away games we had bigger crowds then the home fans. It was a eye opener in many ways and some of the places/pitches were brickholes ( Mansfield was like a ploughed field) probably the worst pitch i have seen.

We really took places over and the pubs were full of Spurs fans wherever we played, As i have already said i enjoyed the season ( overall) and it really opened our eyes to see what the fans of lower div teams had to put up with on a weekly basis.

I ended up going to that match as a young teenager, convinced my Mum to take me, I paid on the gate (them were the days) while she went shopping.

The emergence of a young Glenn Hoddle, as you say, on what could not be descirbed as a pitch. Still remember after the game I needed to get past a copper at a security gate, he asked me where i was from, when I told him Warrington, he just looked totally perplexed and let me through

Blackburn v Tottenham 2009

The perils of needing a HT pint and wanting to beat the traffic.

Remember being at a cold Ewood Park with Mrs PW for this one. These four guys sat in front of us, they were a cracking laugh, top banter, like we all do, did their fair share of moaning about the performance, the weather. 0-0 just before HT they all decide they need a pint and decide to beat the queues. Crouchie scores about 2 minutes after they have gone.
Back for the second half, more bants, laugh and moans, it's still 1-0 at 80 mins, they decide they'll get off to miss the traffic, you guessed it, 2 minutes later, Crouchie again 2-0.

We had a good chuckle on the drive back, they had drove all that way and missed both goals

I was at the 4-4 at the Emirates. I managed to get a ticket, BUT it was in with the Goons and above the Spurs fans. I left at 4-2, I had to! I was going to deck someone and I'm not the violent type, but they insufferable clams. I'm sort of glad that I wasn't in the ground for Azza's equaliser, I may have been killed in the celebration. The scenes in the side streets were great though as everyone was getting texted the score.

I've been to a few away games - Liverpool, Emirates Marketing Project, Bolton x2, QPR, Everton, and 4 or 5 in Ireland and N Ireland. So I suppose my favourite "away" game was to my hometown club (Linfield) for a testimonial in 1987, when Spurs amazingly came over to Belfast with the following lineup and won 3-2: Clemence, Stevens, Thomas, Gough, Mabbs, Paul Allen, Hoddle, Hodge, Waddle, Clive Allen, Claesen, Ardiles.

For those older geezers around like me the 2nd division away days in the late 70's were awesome.
Most were spectacular, us going to, and owning, places normally reserved for ad-hoc FA Cup visits.
Special shout-outs to Mansfield Town, Notts County, Bristol Rovers, Brighton and Southampton as highlights.
Extreme shout-out to Millwall on Boxing Day. Over 40 years later every minute of that day is vivid in my memory. Tottenham were 100% together that day, and yes Harry the Dog is a poodle...lol

Ricky and Ossie's debut at Forest on the opening day after promotion was very special.

Chelsea at the old Stamford Bridge always great fun, with special mentions to the League Cup semi-final 1972 and the 1st game there when Ken Bates put up an electric fence.

Arsenal at Highbury every year. Thank you very much for the North Bank Tottenham.

Yeah, hardly the stuff of legend and lore, but Spurs finally rocked up on my doorstep and I had a photo assignment to cover the game. Good lively crowd of near 25,000. Ben Davies makes his debut and Harry Kane (#37) gets in as a second half sub. Made The Guardian with this first shot:

Brilliant, and I was at a couple of these as a youth myself...yes, the old Bridge was never an easy day out. As for Highbury, I still remember 1980 and the North bank being taken about 20 mins before the match (which we lost 2-0) but the scenes were something else!

I miss the Dell. Saw Spurs v Saints in around 1992, in with home fans because my mate’s a lifelong Saint. Saw Le Tiss at Rownhams service station gave him a shout a wave and he waved back. Made my year.

Don't recall it to be honest, if it was, it was slight, unlike the old Oxford ground (Manor Ground in Headington I think) where the slope was so noticeable a winger could knock it past a defender run along and the ball would curve back into his path. That's been developed into residential now.

Going back to the Dell, which is also residential now, this is what could have become of White Hart Lane;
