Doherty ‘I like golf’....Bale is coming..we’ve just signed his Golf Buddy!!

Seriously though, great signing and an incredibly cheap price.

Great piece of business that addresses one of our major problem areas. Incredible business if the price quoted is true.

He does need a little work on the defensive side of his game but he has the right man coaching him to do that. Will be shocked if this doesn't turn out to be a success.

Welcome. Seems to me a very sensible signing at a surprisingly low fee.

More PL experience and should be more stability, but with an added factor in his attacking play. Just hope he settles quickly.

Will be interesting to see how he fits into our attacking play. Seemingly quite comfortable coming inside, could work well with Moura or Bergwijn in front of him.

Interesting to see how Doherty (pronounced Daw-er-tee not dough-er-tee or doc-er-tee) will link up with fellow Dutchman Bergwijn on the right.

I am ready and good to go, but it may never happen,” says Doherty, who has been named in a couple of Ireland squads, but doesn’t appear to have enjoyed the experience. Born in Swords, Co Dublin, to a Sligoman and Dutch- Indonesian mother, he is amused at the idea of playing for Holland when it is put to him.
“Who is the manager there? I might have to message him or something. Seriously, if I can’t get in the Irish team I ain’t getting in the Dutch team, am I?”
