Matt Doherty

I believe that he's got the most assists of any fullback after TAA over the last couple of seasons. I'll be happy to see an end to all of our attacking play going through Aurier, his delivery is not that good and it is easy to defend against.
And his defending ranges form brilliant and appalling in the same defensive action

How old was Walker when we sold him? Maybe there are some parallels. Walker wasn't the best player for us in his early 20s. Many fans were critical. But he came good, matured, and by the time he left he was a rounded player. We weren't that sorry to see him go as he was never perfect. But in hindsight, we never replaced him fully.

Doherty is possibly similar in that he's developed into a good player, Wolves fans didn't really expect him to be transferred as he's not one of their stand out performers. But he's a solid mature fullback who gets goals and would be an upgrade for us.
I think Walkers way better than Doherty, even now, let alone when we had him (his best years).

not that I’m upset with this potential signing. Could be very good.

This signing would suggest Mourinho wants to stick with a similar formation to last season with Davies tucked in as a 3rd CB most of the time. Doherty played an attacking wing-back role for Wolves? I know its a way Mourinho likes to play, but I'm not sure I prefer it to us having a more balanced setup with players like peek Rose and Walker. Players who can defend or attack as the game and space dictate.

We don't ask him to do a lot of defending under Mourinho, or when we do, we have someone placed a meter in front of him at all times.
Yet he still makes mistake after mistake
He is the classic player that wins a header he shouldn’t make and heads it back into play to be picked up by his opposite number
Or makes a clearance to the same man only for him to score...

Walker is a very different player
Technically not great but physically outstanding
Walkers pace does get him out of so much bother but it’s also his biggest attacking threat. He wasn’t a great user of the ball or a defensive judge, but he was strong in tackles and challenges and could hit a ball well
Him and rose were the best pairing in the world at their peak IMO

Well that’s definitely not true - he didn’t get more than Robertson!

And a quick check shows he also got less than Digne and Azpilicueta.

He got 3 last season and 5 the season before - pretty good though not outstanding for an attacking wing back I guess.

Whereas he got 4 goals each of the last two seasons, which from a quick check seems to be the most of any full-back.

(I was just looking at PL, not all competitions).

Where did you get those stats from? You're right about Robertson.
