One realistic signing

I wonder if something happened between the stadium opening and now that might have changed our financial position.

It’s not just been this season. For years going back, the club has kept its hands in its pockets. Last summer was an exception to the rule but otherwise the club have a very low net spend, considering the wealth and turnover of the club.

This is only the third window since the stadium opened and we spent a reasonable amount in the previous two.

Turnover means nothing, all the anti Levy phalanx who post second grade level artwork on twitter go nuts about this but its money in the bank that would mean we should spend more money, not turnover. Any money that comes in goes back out again, its all accounted for, this year was different but loses due to Covid would eat away at that.

I see us spending but we need to sell, as much to do with numbers than money, we have too much deadwood at the club, it needs outing.

What could possibly have happened to the club in the last 10 years prior to the new stadium opening to cause that?! ;)

I know we have the new stadium, and that long term it will bring us great benefits. But maybe I just want to see us better than mid table. Maybe I just want us to be successful. I’m sure my thoughts are really no different from others here. And to see other clubs invest and us stand still, so far, just sees a wider gap potentially being created. Perhaps we will make good signings yet...I mean in spite of United’s link with Sancho, they haven’t signed anyone and they’re arguably the biggest club in the World.
I also remember Levy saying that the stadium costs would not impact upon transfer spending. I know that was some kind of political spin but.

Do you consider 6th as mid-table?
Obviously I want us back in the top 4, I was getting quite used to it after 4 successive years, and there's nothing wrong in wanting us to be successful, but we really haven't been a 'mid-table' team for over 10 years?

Everyone wants success, progress. Everyone wants us to do better.

Other clubs spending more than us because they have more money (financial doping, previous sales or bigger turnover) is to me just that. Other clubs having more money.

That's the reality we as a club exist in. One can be unhappy about Lewis not being Abramovic, or one can be happy about our model. Neither changes the reality of our situation. The reality is also that we're in a much stronger position than we were 30 years ago, 20 years ago, 10 years ago. Only if measured only by our rather recent success are we in a worse situation.

I find it a lot more interesting to read, discuss and think about ways the club can improve within reality than think about how things would be different if reality wasn't what it is.

Now, now do not let facts get in the way of just another moan about Levy.

The ground didn’t affect our spending last season

A type of player we desperately need is a creative passer type. We need to replace Eriksen. Think it’s something we lack. Lo Celso is a decent footballer but not that man.

If Ndombele can step up because he can pick a pass then we have one but the jury is out on his attitude and desire.
