Champions League 2019/20

Think keeping this format could stave off the annual talk of a European Super League/Former big clubs finishing outside of top 2 league as well. Even makes the Europa slightly more watchable which is a feat in itself.

Will be sad to see it go.

I like this format too. The big clubs will want a return to two legs because it favours them.

I fancy Leipzig to beat them

It will be interesting to see PSG with Veratti back in the side... (it could allow Neymar a more attacking role).
That’s said, I think Liepzig are looking strong, athletic and very well organized.
Could an all-English Champs League Final be followed by an all-German Champs League Final.... :fencelook:

Liepzig and PSG look fresh but it's German efficiency, up against Brazilian swagger and we know what happens in those circumstances..

How can Guardiola keep doing this? Almost deliberately not going with the obvious way of playing, that usually brings high chances of success.

Is he trying to prove himself extra clever? Is he cursed by overthinking matches that have high stakes and so he questions himself to the point where he talks himself out of the most clear solution?

He's not that good

- Pep is a "system coach" (like Poch/Klopp) that at their core don't believe in adapting to the opposition (we play our game)
- That has proven not to work at CL level (most times), so now I think Pep feels he has to adapt, but it's just not his thing, he's not good at adapting (so perhaps overthinking to your point)

In addition, City is aging (somewhat like Barca & Real) and a lot of their players are overrated

- Jesus and Sterling aren't that good, they get tons of chances because it's City, but they don't convert at the level a top level player should
- If you had Sane and Aquero playing, City wins
- If you gave City/Real/Atleti Kane and Son up front, they would all still be in it.

This week-end results were great ..

He's right, neither are great sporting stories. But unless you put human rights abuses and sidestepping ownership rules in the same bracket, the moral and ethical choice surely isn't that hard.

How have Lyon not scored?? 3 gigantic chances before 16 minutes, and of course when you don't take your chances, you get punished! 1-0 Bayern, top corner from the gooner scum.

Whoever wins this have to beat PSG in the final for the sake of football. Not sure I see Lyon doing that, although it would be sweet revenge for all the league titles they've been robbed of by Qatari money.
If Bayern win today, and with 2-0 now it looks like they will, they might be in trouble if they continue with that high line vs Mbappè, Neymar and Di Maria!
Might become a high scoring game!

All depends who they start centrally
Mbappe would be very interesting but neymar would take too many touches
