Juan Foyth

Way I see it .. Toby (one more year as starter), Sanchez, Dier, Tanganga (may see him in more FB role) stay, Jan gone, Foyth likely to go.

15M for Foyth, plus KWP gives us PEH, a player that will likely be a first team starter ..

I think Foyth is a really talented footballer, but he just tried too many "clever" moves when he got his chances.
He should have just kept it simple simple simple and by now he would be a great choice for us.

But that time he smashed into a Bournemouth player and killed him and got sent off and we lost.
And that time he gave away 2 pens.
I mean, Jeez man. You are talented but... seriously you need to just calm down and play boring for a bit.

I think that it is entirely relevant, it is a position where often takes players time to mature and settle. I also think that it is relevant to consider that he's been in and out of the side, has played different positions and hasn't been part of a settled defence.

Perhaps I didn’t really articulate well. I meant his age isn’t relevant because he’s 22. If he were 18 or 19 obviously I’d cut him a lot more slack but he’s had 3 years in the premier league now. Albeit he hasn’t had a great deal of game time. But that is partly because he has made mistakes when given opportunities. I could have conveyed what I meant better and I accept the chances are he will improve but I’ve seen enough of him to make a judgement and I definitely don’t think we will achieve anything significant if he is one of the CB’s who gets the most game time.

Of course its bloody relevant or are you one of those fans who believe that players once they get to 22 they can not learn and improve.

No offence parklane but you mention age in just about every single post when it comes to Foyth or Sanchez. As I said above, I accept that he MAY improve but I’ve seen enough of him in 3 years to decide I don’t think his decision making and tendency to make mistakes is going to improve THAT much. I don’t see why I should wait until he’s 26 before I am allowed to say I don’t rate him.

I believe it’s safe to assume everyone on here watches quite a lot of football. And we’re experienced enough to make a call on whether we rate a player and judge if he will help the club push forward after three years. If you want to give him more time before you decide than that is your right to do so but please accept some of us would rather not wait around until a player reaches 27-32 before we can vote yes or no regarding their future.

I think defenders get better with age, I still thought I could win every tackle and header until I was in my mid 20s and all the training and coaching help you improve but not as much as playing regularly in a team with players you can forge understanding with. I can only think of 3/4 defenders I've seen who where very good as youngsters Moore, Todd, King and Ferdinand

It was the brain dead pass back against Arsenal that did it for me, led to a goal and from being 2-0 up we lost 3-2

I think people want to read talent into something that was just not there, hell even Poch did not trust him. The guy is like many before him in being completely over rated. Probably end up with wimmer at stoke.

You don’t get 10 caps for Argentina at his age unless you have something, I hope he stays and gets a proper run in the team.

I think Foyth has the same problem as John Stones in that he has more technical ability than is required to be a centre back and they just can’t help themselves but take unnecessary risks.
I feel if we are to persevere with him a loan might be better for him to get a run of games to prove he can get it out of his system but it feels like it will require something pretty special to turn it around.

They are not really known for producing top centre halves with the greatest respect. When was the last good one they produced? Samuel? Ayala?

I’d be happy for him to go out on loan, somewhere like Saudi Sportswashing Machine or Villa for example. Somewhere the pressure admittedly isn’t the same as playing for Spurs, but Villa will more than likely be near the bottom so he would need to learn to rein in his tendencies to take risks. If he can do that and prove he can iron out the silly mistakes then great.

I’d still like to see us go and sign a new CB this summer though. Toby is our best CB but his best days are behind him.

I might be having a moment but when was this?

Doesn’t he get all his caps for Argentina playing right back? Thats where he looks his best imo.

If we sign a right back we still need to keep one of aurier, foyth or kwp for squad depth. Unless we sell all three to raise funds and use Tanganga as a right back where required.

End of November or start of December 2018. I was in a bar in Gambia watching it and kicked a chair across the room so hard one of those pervy old white women who had gone to get a young black husband got up and walked out.

The wife walked away saying this is why i cant watch football with you and the other spurs fan in the hotel from st albans said Foyth is a liability and i said no he is a cnut.

He was on the half way line and playing right back and passed it back without looking and the arsenal player ran onto it and scored. I remember it like yesterday.

No offense taken mate at all, Stop! Hammer time.:)

The only thing i will say is yes he has been here three years but in that time he has only played in 30 games ( 16 in the Prem) most of the rest have been in the cups where weaken sides have been played and a lot of them as a sub. Now if you think that is enough games for you decide that he is never going to be good enough then there is not much more i can say.

He has had the extra burden of having to settle in a completely different country at just turned 19, yes he has made mistakes but he has also shown a lot of promise, if you have made up your mind about him never making it here that is fair enough. But for others looking at the time he has been here, the lack of games he has had to prove himself then they have the the right to do so just like you have the right to dismiss him and say he is not good enough.

Nathaniel Clyne, Micah Richards, Kieran Gibbs, Russell Osman , nah it's simple to get 10 caps and still be brick.

He wouldn't get a game at either Villa or Saudi Sportswashing Machine IMO.... especially not if he was on loan.
