Best music streaming service.

Have Amazon music HD account. Hate the PC interface.
Prefer Spotify for ease of use and a better selection of music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Not tried any of the others streaming sevices.

I listen mainly on my old 5.1 amp via a wired Echo dot or on my iPhone. So no way am I now as fussy sound quality-wise.

I am new to the music streaming world, I have a large CD collection of .flac music on my QNAP which is networked up to PLEX.

I reach for Spotify now mainly through the ease of use.

Thoughts?

There’s a £1 a month for 3 months offer on Tidal at the moment if you wanted to try that.

That even includes the CD quality tier - normally £19.99pm - and you get some MQA hi-res and also specially mixed Dolby Atmos tracks (if you have the kit to hear it).

On a similar note, anyone know which streaming service has the best algorithms?

I know Spotify is supposed to be the best, but I tried it for a few weeks and all it wanted to do was recommend new music. New music is brick.

Google Play/YouTube Music is the best I've found so far, but the audio quality isn't great.

I'm with Play music for this reason. Selection is great too.

Would also be keen to here if Tidal or Deezer are any good. Spotify doesn't work for me. I just didn't like it

I have both spotify and apple music. Spotify always feels "busier" whereas Apple music feels "easier". Critically, their curation seems more interesting. Between "essential", deep collections and referring similar artists, they have actually lead me to artists new and old I did not know.

I am also signed with google play but never really use it (business expense)...I will try it out more. Never tried Tidal and Deezer? Hmmm. Tried it briefly but did not have enough to get me away from apple or spotify.

Google's algorithm is excellent at learning what you like. I can often start a playlist from a song and it will go for hours with me rarely having to skip.

I was skipping 2-3 out of every 4 tracks on Spotify.

Couldn't get on with Spotify either. Spent ages liking a load of bands, played music I liked for a while and it still kept recommending crap.

For more choice and no cost, try vk.com

It’s Russia’s version of Facebook but it has an extensive music library uploaded by users. There is no cost unless you want to pay for the app which gives you 30mins a day free. On a computer it’s completely free.

No algorithms suggesting music for you, but can join/follow people who have similar tastes and publish music.
