Baseball Season

Went to a game when I was in NY, can honestly say it was the most boring 3 hours of my life

I went to the NY and Boston game in London and it was averaging on for 6 hours, even the USA lot were saying it was a joke. I love it though, I prefer it on tele have to say, like test cricket the ability to skip the crap and filler.

Saw the Miami Marlins once, wasn’t the most entertaining few hours of my life, but think, a bit like cricket, once you understand the tactics of it it would get better. On the whole though, American rounders isn’t for me!

there aren’t enough hours to get into baseball again!

Starts later for my beloved Cleveland Indians, anyone else a fan of the MLB, who you following?

I keep meaning to get into it, it’s such a storied game and I love the stats side of it.

I enjoy sport that takes its time

Is it carried by an official broadcaster over here or would I need to get the boat out?

.

I was playing in the States in the early 80's and a mate gave me tickets to see the LA Dodgers in the World Series against the Yankees, been a fan ever since.

Looked down on a packed, floodlit Fenway Park from the top of the Prudential building in Boston during a game a few years back. Was quite a sight, but that was close enough for me.

On a work trip to the US at the end of the 90s my colleagues, who I was meeting for the first time, took me to a Cardinals game. I knew nothing about baseball then (and still don’t now really) and don’t recall anything much about the game that day but I do remember being amazed at the stadium, the sheer number of food outlets and the non-stop coming and going throughout the day to buy food and drink. It was totally different to anything I’d experienced before.
(Mind you that trip was the first time I’d seen (generally rather large) people eat cream cakes for breakfast).

I can’t say I have any interest in baseball but I imagine all sports have plus points if you spend the time getting to understand them. ‘Boring’ was how I lazily described cricket until I made an effort to understand it.

TBH I’m not sure who is carrying it here as I’ve been lazy to check.

Usually BT Sport or ESPN maybe they are same now?

I don’t watch every game, from that aspect the number of games makes it a tough slog but love to pick up and put down all season. Watch the highlights every morning.

The drama of the post season is amazing, I feel that’s where the football leagues play offs came from but it never catches the same buzz I don’t think

Are they gonna change be forced to change their name like the Redskins?

I think it’s abit more rocky for them.

They named their club in homage to a previous Player with native Indian Roots so the argument is how can that be viewed as having racist undertones. I think they also argue that they wouldn’t name themselves with something negative and the use of Indians is meant in a positive light, which kind of stands to reason, you don’t call your team something you mean in a negative ways. You don’t have a boardroom meeting and say “let’s mock native Indians by calling our sporting franchise something that can be viewed as offensive.

The term “the tribe” which comes from being the Indians references a term of strength and unity.

It’s a tough one I think

How are they organising the season this year @Grays_1890? Shortened season or are they playing further into the winter?

Can easily sit and watch a game on BT, not really got a specific team but like to see the Mets go ok.

Shorter season and moving about the play offs picture.

Indians broke all kinds of records last night, good stary
