Giovani Lo Celso

My hunch is he needs to be feeding the players ahead and he looks better when forward facing rather than an 'in behind the forwrds' position where he could often have his back to goal. Same goes for Ndombele (if he ever turns up)
TBF the latter is exactly how he played in Spain. Certainly more a 10 then an 8
Lots of late runs into the box though
Here he has been playing 10 lately mainly as part of a 3 (additional responsibilities) whilst carrying a groin injury And we have been fine if he hasn’t shined.

Not comparing him to Keita for any reason other than it was in the comments section but it shows that Lo Celso is hardly the Messiah.

It's not really surprising his stats are not on the same level, we are demonstrably a significantly worse side than Liverpool.

It doesn't help that GLC is played in a midfield with Winks and Sissoko. Put him in a midfield with competent players and his stats will and performances will improve.

I won't claim to the level of Keita who I think is a tremendous talent but significantly beyond what they are now because as it is we are essentially playing GLC with two 8 ton weights strapped to his back because the other two are rather poor at doing their jobs.

He’s made a good start, definitely a good ball carrier which always initially makes a player stand out. Seemed to tail off at the end of the season which has been attributed to carrying an injury.
Given that many players have their whole first season written off as needing to adapt, I’m optimistic we’ll see him go up a level next season, especially with a few better technical players around him. At the worst he’s a very decent technical centre mid, at best we’ll see if he can add more goals and assists as an attacking mid once everything else is settled around him.

All Spanish speakers! How come Gazza wasn't invited?!?

(PS Dier will be able to get by in Spanish given his Portuguese)

I think Dier speaks Spanish quite well. Didn't Kieran Tripper say, after his move to Atletico, that Dier kept messaging him in Spanish, to make him learn the language?
