Gardens and stuff

This thread is for any gardening stuff.

Selfishly I've got my question first.

Lockdown and having a decent sized garden means I've been spending a fair bit if time in the garden doing stuff.

Now I've got a 16*10 space at the back where I had 2 old wooden sheds. One has been destroyed by winds and the other one is nearly gone.

I'm not spending 10k getting an outhouse built but I do need storage back there. Bikes. Lawn mower. And maybe get some electric and get a freezer in there.

So was looking at paying for a decent shed.

Any experience with buying guys? Any tips?

I bought a cabin from Tuin and it is fantastic. Took quite a while to put together with the shingles and the floating floor. Also had to put in a concrete base.

I’ve got a fairly big garden room space and a decent sized tool storage space.

Will be a few grand but the quality is there and all the parts were present!

Don’t get a plastic one.

Oh and i got electric put in this year should have done it when I put it up.

Anyone plant their own herbs? Thinking of getting a few troughs for the patio but wonder if I'm a couple of months too late on it to get anything from them this year.

No you can use the leaves straightaway. Mint, sage, rosemary and thyme, some tomatoes and basil. Too late for seeds but you should find something in the garden centre that can be grown on.

Any idea as to how to stop a cat bricking in our little garden area ?
We have a small patio with an area of chip bark, a cat keeps leaving it's output in the chip bark
It's annoying me as we're trying to make it nice for the better weather for the kids
There are cat sonars that work
Lion brick works if you have a local zoo that will give you it (my dad used to get it from Woburn)

Undoubtedly post of the day!

Is it possible to put solar on a shed roof? Just to power a couple of lights and a USB charger. What kit would you need? Can it be done quite inexpensively?

Check out solar centre
Their products are decent and some have usb and solar charging
I’ve used them before for work and they went down well

not on the shed talk but replaced my crappy weedy grass with fake grass and it was the best decision i made. pricey, but so much better.

Yep. It would be like the system they use for campervans etc. A 12volt system with a charge controller and battery.
Might look into that for my garage. Have started building models (not very well) and have bought an airbrush for the painting (even worse), could be handy for the compressor and my phone.

I'm no expert but you may need to check if there is enough grunt in that setup to power a compressor. Sounds like a small compessor but worth a check. If it is ac then you'll need an inverter too, I think.
