Gardens and stuff

This thread is for any gardening stuff.

Selfishly I've got my question first.

Lockdown and having a decent sized garden means I've been spending a fair bit if time in the garden doing stuff.

Now I've got a 16*10 space at the back where I had 2 old wooden sheds. One has been destroyed by winds and the other one is nearly gone.

I'm not spending 10k getting an outhouse built but I do need storage back there. Bikes. Lawn mower. And maybe get some electric and get a freezer in there.

So was looking at paying for a decent shed.

Any experience with buying guys? Any tips?

The electrics might cost more than you think...BUT

Do the electrics properly...it might kill you otherwise.

Come on man, even my brother, who has at least 12 thumbs, managed to build a shed. If you know what a hammer is, you'll get one built in a few days, for less than half the cost of a pre-built one, and you can build it exactly the size you want.

All my mates have spent their excess CV cash on garden products

Top of the range BBQs, Smokers, Hammocks......

I am get to even sort mine from the jungle its become but will have to by Saturday

I absolutely lack the confidence to do it.

I concur. Take a chance. What is the worst that can happen?

How many fingers do you have @Kandi1977 incidentally?

I want to dig up some of our back garden to do a sunken sitting area. Due to my condition i get impulses around spending money sometimes and now dont have access to funds after agreeing with the wife. So all big purchases go through her.

Any idea as to how to stop a cat bricking in our little garden area ?
We have a small patio with an area of chip bark, a cat keeps leaving it's output in the chip bark
It's annoying me as we're trying to make it nice for the better weather for the kids

Anyone plant their own herbs? Thinking of getting a few troughs for the patio but wonder if I'm a couple of months too late on it to get anything from them this year.

Perennials you'll be ok with as you'll have them for years anyway (rosemary, thymes, oregano etc) and you should be ok to get some basil, parsley, dill, corriander (ugh) going. cut and come again leaves are always worth it (cut right down on the bagged salad) spinach is easy and wild rocket is perennial and will self seed and just keeps coming.

I wee in a bottle and then pour it over the garden this detere cats and foxes. No flimflam you can google it. It does work.
