Golf Thread

Scotland, home of golf, but you can't play here.
We will be the last to return it.
Glasgow City Council has closed 5 courses permanently, Lancashire Council has closed 6 and it looks like they won't open again, ever.

Absolute joke.

I didn't realise any councils still owned golf courses.

Oh yes, the old course in St Andrews and all the courses around it and Carnoustie are council owned.
There's also many other lesser courses, 3 in troon and a couple each in Dundee and Ayr that are very good.

Got a tee time for Monday, very happy !!!

Lucky you, in another two weeks granny nicola might allow us restricted access to our courses.
Might mind you, if we are good little children and promise to eat up our porridge, vote SNP and point fingers at those bad English tories.
Fudging pathetic, Scotland is turning into a nanny state on steroids.

If it helps, I don't think she's trying to set up a nanny state - she's just opposing the govt wherever she can to try and stay relevant.

Nah, they really are setting up super nanny state.
Everything is suppressed, no thinking for yourself, follow the party or else.
We supposedly have the highest section d notices (or equivalent) in Western Europe, the most refused or redacted FOIs, there is no questioning them at all.
Her latest stock phrase is "I reject that criticism" or "I don't accept that". Never any justification, just a rejection and a stony stare.

Its a mix of both, she is so small and irrelevant except to a bunch of nationalists who follow what she thinks, but it gives her a false sense that she is important.

Very true, and it makes it frustrating trying to explain to "foreigners" that the Nats are the very vocal minority.

Good to hear your point of view. I often listen to Sturgeon's daily press conference, it taking place at lunchtime, and she has always seemed very in control of things, more so than the Westminster government in their daily press conferences. I have never liked her (and I'm ambivalent on Scottish independence) but she does come across well, imo (in the current situation). Do you think she is just playing politics now, holding out against the English/Boris, or does she genuinely think she is doing the right thing for Scotland, delaying lifting restrictions?

reason is she is brief before we are so comes out before Westminster and decides her response when in fact she is the leak

She isn't lifting restrictions for two reasons.
1, can't be seen to be following a UK govt, especially not a tory one.
2. The vultures are circling, everything they have touched has turned brick, education, NHS (two disastrous new hospitals, one of which is years late with no sign of opening but is costing us millions a month), the calmac ferry debacle, the deficit. Salmond is on the warpath and determined to bring her down, that is the real reason for the delay. He has said he has evidence that will tear the party apart but is waiting until is over before releasing it.
Without being in any way cheeky, I can understand why you and many others watch her and think she good, there's plenty up here who do as well obviously, but look behind that, it's a mess of EPIC propositions. Unfortunately most don't look any deeper.
Im not overly political but I hate them with a passion, they are a twisted, hateful, grievance driven bunch of fools.
Sorry for the rant :(
