Dele Alli

Never forget where that poor in game management and subbing got us for four years in a row, despite a net spend of bugger all and being homeless for a season and a half.
Yeah a lot of lost big games
The guy got is slow close but to get things over the line he didn’t have the noise knowledge or pig headidness when needed

And as mentioned many times he inherited so many of the players he improved so it helped his net spend and he didn’t need to buy a top top striker as he had one. That’s saved the club a lot of money which was then used on the ground and training set up. He was a massive part of the foundations we have

Appreciate the discussion, and his position had absolutely become untenable. My love and blindness prevented me from admitting that after the CL Final he should've left. He had been undermined too much already at that stage, thus the situation was a bust. I will say I don't hate Mourinho as much, more that I just feel indifferent to him. He's our manager so I support him and what he needs, but my overall passion for his work is indeed lacking.

I think one thing to note is that Poch wanted certain young players at certain times and did not get them. Remember Toby? He wanted him out. remember De Lift? We were in pole position at one point and could not make it happen in time. The clock ticks on those deals as bigger come in (as they did). Grealish was another example, and arguably in the "dele" category albeit we have to concede Dele was the greatest bargain of the last decade. I am not so sure Poch wanted top top tier more than he wanted exactly what HE wanted, and felt (reasonably enough) the he had earned the right (the Trust minutes break down how our transfer committee works).

I agree with you with regards to Mourinho and getting behind him. My only qualifier there remains what I have always felt; he will NOT tolerate pfaffing around at the board level, he will defend himself first and foremost and he will absolutely protect himself first. The game has already begun. Trust me mate, I (once again) would be delighted to be wrong!
Everybody expects Jose to be gone in a season or two. If he doesn't, it means he's doing well, if he does, I don't think Levy will let it affect the club. Levy's appointments feel like he tries everything (every type of manager) in search of the right solution, and he learns a bit more every time. I'm happy to see where Jose takes us, and I don't think we'll know this season, he deserves a proper chance.

He may get a cup somewhere but his substitutions and in game management is poor for a top top manager
But winning a cup is as much luck

And yet Jose is getting praise for winning two cups with o e the biggest clubs in the world, after spending a fair few quid and as I recall basically abandoning the league.

He has won 25 cups
That’s more than we have as a club
Not denying any of that, answering the quote of "can be lucky and win cups", or words to that effect.
So is it only luck when it suits.
Context is everything. Would Jose winning the EL and carabou Cup with Tottenham be a success? For me yes.
Is it a success with utd? No, not for me it isn't.

I think that on the basis that United haven’t challenged getting 2nd with them was huge

If Two trophies and second is successful why was he sacked?
Man utd don't employ managers to be second.
He was sacked because the club is a mess
People think they have turned the corner now (and they may have) but their still a mess
And done worse before and after him...

He doesn’t want to go
And there’s no talk of anyone chasing him
But he is a player that we could lose for good money and reinvest
There aren’t many other that fall in that bracket
On form, with the team working well around him, he's one of our very best players, one of the most exciting players we have. And he's one of those not even at his prime yet. He's one always showing fight and courage.

The way forward is to strengthen the team so that we get the best out of our best players. Not to willingly try to replace Elvis with The Beatles, something that fails more often than it succeeds.

But if we sold him to find the two full backs we need more and replaced him with Bergwein or even Kane playing behind a striker we would arguably be better

Well let's wait and see whether another manager can do better under the constraints at Spurs before we judge him too harshly. He won a lot of big games too from my recollection. Beating City and Ajax in the Champions League spring immediately to mind.

Yeah I was there for those games
I was also at the Chelsea away semi last season where we were woeful

o_O

I couldn't believe how good we were in the second half judging by how the first half went. To take them to penalties was a fantastic effort.

Kane Alli Sonny all missing.

Away goals rule we were thru.

Wouldn't put in the woeful envelope.

It was woeful being there
As yet again we crumbled in a big semi
There is a reason why we fail in so many semi finals and it runs through the club and fans
So maybe I’m wrong and Poch might get a trophy but he would need be tougher on players for sure
