Jose Mourinho - SACKED

Excellent post mate. Jose’s style is very much predicated on ceding possession and hitting on the counter. Will be fascinating to see if he can change it up in a situation where he has to coach players who do not suit his preferred style.

I get that he was a bit more like that at United. But his Chelski teams, Madrid Teams and even his Inter teams where not like that. So I dont understand what he is doing. Starting home games and having below 40% possesion? He cannot just blame it on not having a striker. It was like that with Son. He needs to stop this, grow a pair and play the other teams with a normal plan. At least this way we can see some progression we can take into next season with certain players. What are we learning right now? that we cannot defend even when we all sit back? or that we cannot even over power Norwich and Villa etc?

if its that bad. Then lets find our most mobile defender and play him up front. Anything to get a decent formation and attacking plan for next year. All this cannot just be on the fact Kane is out. Lamela is pretty good at being a pivot up front. Play him as a 9 just a bit deeper. He fights to hold onto the ball.

Play someone up top who will bully and push around the opposition CBs. That puts them off their game and makes them think, rather than be confident that a paper weigh like Moura gently bouncing off them is all they’ll have to deal with.

I think part of it is down to us not being able to cope with any more injuries, this is about getting to the end of the season now.

The players may not be learning, but I am sure he is and that is much more important for the re-build.

Lamela cant play more than 20/30 minutes atm

I have always had a soft spot for Jose due to his total confidence in himself and that he wins. I also willing to not really get to stressed until he has has a full off season and has the players he needs to make his team.

That said, I am getting very worried with our style of play. You can say we have the 2nd most points since he joined from Liverpool. But in how many of those games were you confident we was going to win? not a lot of them whilst watching the match.

So. we have no forwards. So lumping it forward is not going to help is it. With the amount of wing forwards we have, I feel we should be playing higher up. With their pace they could hunt in a pack and press the opposition. At least then we might win the ball in the opposition half. We are conceding too much possession to the opposition. Way too much, we have no outlet so hitting on the break is not helping us.

I see all the arguments for not playing or not playing Parrott. But for me, whether he is old enough, good enough etc is not the point. He is a striker. And we need a striker. It will allow us to play a real formation with an actual threat up front. If now is not the time when we have Zero Forwards when is it? Play him in 1-2 games. See what happens.

Or are we just going to concede we have no strikers and limp to the end of the season? I don't get that!!

So I wont be on any band wagon against JM. I like to give all managers and players a chance. But its worrying. I will say that. We could have a very young ish and energetic front that can pressure. Give it a chance. WE cannot keep playing every game on the back foot. We are simply not good enough defensively to play like that either.

Just about my thoughts entirely. Great post.

Yep, great post as others have said. Sadly I think you're right that we are looking at a limp to the end of the season and it's extremely frustrating. Tbh, we did that last year as well, we were just lucky enough to have a very big distraction along the way.

Like you, I'm all for giving Parrott a go. Whether he's the real deal or not, you've got to think the guys sheer determination to make an impact alone will have more benefit than what we have on offer at the moment!
And by surrounding him with Bergwijn, Gio, Dele and Moura, you'd expect him to have a few decent chances created for him.

My fear is that we'll only see Parrott as an impact sub, where he'll be playing alone up top with the ball hit long for him to chase. All those players above look knackered by 75mins and aren't going to give him any kind of support.

I'm very fearful for the Wolves game. Nuno has them pressing and chasing down lost causes all over. They have no fear going away to the big teams and already have their Europa tie sewn up. It's going to be a long few months unless Jose changes, or at least adapts, his ways.

If you have lots of small technical players, you develop a game-plan to utilise those players.
If you have lots of big physical players, you develop a game-plan to utilise those players.

We still have a LOT of really good players - it is MouMou's job to create a team and system that utilises their positives whilst masking their negatives.
It ain't rocket science.

Our game plan at Cheatski was seemingly to bore them to death with 5 at the back, deep full backs not going forwards, make sure we don't lose... but somehow our backline was caught out by the SEARING electric pace and movement of Mount and Giroud.

We looked as solid as a chocolate condom.

When Jose was appointed I thought ok he’s now ‘our’ manager suck it up and get behind him!

I hate the football and especially our poor defending.

It looks to me like he is just trying to tread water, managing fitness while doing his best to stay within touching distance of fourth. If/when two or three more teams overtake us, we might see something different then.

I'm no fan of Mourinho but he's our manager at a very testing time, I can't remember when so many nailed on starters from the previous season were either out injured or have totally lost form, We must except this season is a write off and hope plans are in place to fill the obvious gaps in the team and squad for the next season. I do get frustrated with the continual calls for Parrott to get picked from fans who've never seen him play or train and how they chose to ignore that Jose gave Tanganga his opportunity, if he is ready he'll get his chance.

Exactly.
No secret that I was against all of it, but he is our manager, he has some royal pedigree and needs to be supported! The last era has long gone now, this is the new one and as you rightly said, he's dealing with a brick show right now.

Given the start of the season if I was offered us to be in with a sniff of 4th, still in the FA Cup and just about in the CL I would have taken it.

Thats before adding Son/Kane injuries.

You might be disappointed around 10pm on 10 March though!

This.
Every time I hear fans/pundits/media telling us how we're still in the hunt for 4th and in 2 cup comps, how great that is etc etc, I want to tell them to come back in just 2wks time, as I genuinely think after the picture will be very different after WOLVES - NORWICH - BURNLEY (a) - LEIPZIG.

I think we will win 3 of those games

Is it being so optimistic that keeps you going?
