Jose Mourinho - SACKED

Sorry but if this is the future, it belongs in the past. I’d let Mourinho go at end of the season. I always thought it should be an interim appointment not a long term one.

Easy to blame Mourinho, but he isn’t the issue. This stems from Poch for me, now I loved the guy but our team has been in decline for far too long (I don’t just mean the last 12 months either). How long have we known we had a striker backup issue, yet he forces Jansen out without a replacement and likewise Llorente. Who did he actually buy that improved the team? Could argue Wanyama and Toby in his 1st season then what?? Instead of wasting money on the likes of Njie and Nkoudou if he wasn’t happy with our options up front he should have replaced, for me after the 1st season we just have been in a slow decline until we hit a cliff edge and now are seeing the result of that. Ultimately none of this is on Jose, the changes he is making is the exact changes people have been screaming out for; we must start NDombele, Alli needs to be dropped etc etc, we shouldn’t have 3 at the back - great who do we bring on?? Dier? Skipp??

too little perspective on current limitations and addressing the root of the issues for my liking

Exactly, he's come in and got us more points than we were getting before and halted the slide. 2nd most points behind Liverpool was it.

What exactly are people expecting to happen when a manager comes in mid season? Or to put it another way, what manager can anyone put their house on would have come in under the same circumstances and done better?

Who did Pochettino sign?
Dele, Son, Lo Celso, and Sanchez are three to add to those that you named.
Davies can be ok. He was never intended to be a regular starter, I don’t think. We had an in form Rose at the time. But Davies has covered ok in the past.
On paper we have a strong team without a striker. What happens we step on the pitch? What action has Mourinho taken to improve the team’s performances? We seem to sit off the opposition far too much, look lacklustre and as if movement is an 8 letter word on Countdown rather than being something the players feel is required of them. We need to increase tempo, move around more, and make life harder for the opposition.
I’m yet to see any positive changes from Mourinho aside from the introduction to the team of Tanganga, who has great potential.

Still reaping the benefit of the previous regime’s falling standards, what the fudge were our conditioning and fitness team doing over the summer?

Deli was signed pre-Poch I think? Sanchez maybe, time will tell - will give you Lo Celso however. Flip the coin however, Janssen/Trippier/Dembele/Wanyama he struck lucky from Sherwoods time with Winks/Kane and tbh Kane has been getting progressively worse not better (he’s still very good but pushing him deeper his attacking stats are nothing compared to Sherwoods time or Season 1/2).

you can’t honestly tell me you haven’t felt a drop off over the last few seasons due to over working/over training/mis-management

What about Bergwijn and Gedson?

Bergwijn could be good. I didn’t think he played well today. Gedson is one for the future, have to see more of him to know if it was a good idea to bring a young player in on loan when focus could have been on other positions.

The difficulty is that we had time at Wembley and so weak performances could be attributed to that. We still beat Real Madrid, pushed Juventus all the way and deserved more, and beat Dortmund. Plus wins against most of the rest of the top six with performances to match.
The wheels really came off last January and the Champions League Final was almost a mirage in its deceiving nature compared to our performances for the rest of that part of the season. Things weren’t right with Pochettino but I’m not sure Mourinho was the right next step to take.
