Kyle Walker-Peters

I wonder if he's suffered a bit from being a fan of the club who is essentially living his dream.

I know if I was in his position, I wouldn't want to leave either and I'd still be holding out hope that I could make it here. Contrast that to some of our other youth players who have forced moves abroad or even Parrott/ Foyth who seemingly aren't happy at not playing.

Perhaps he could have been a bit more forceful for his own sake.

Good luck to him, I really hope he ekes out a career in the PL. He should be able to.

This. I didn't mean my post above yours to come off cold, the lad seems like a lovely bloke and he has potential. He loves Spurs too.

It's just one of those tough situations where a hard call will bring about the best outcome for all.

He will hopefully earn a good living in football but not in the top levels of the EPL but who knows, could be a late developer.

For me Tanganga has overtaken him as a prospect at RB. I am far more confident with Japhet defensively and offensively than KWP which is bizarre as Japhet is a CB!

I really think KWP suffered from not being allowed to go on loan ditto some other talents.

The difference with Rose at 22 is Rose already was on loan at Watford, Peterborough and Bristol City at that stage.
KWP is 23 in a few months and hasn't had a full season of football since he was 19.
That was the last time he was allowed to play youth football.

Consider how long it takes players to get match fit. KWP hasn't probably been match fit since that age with only a few minutes every month coming his way.
His development has completely stagnated.
Yes people are saying he's only average. That's definitely all he can be now. The club failed him by not letting him play football, instead using him as a body in training.

I just hope that we haven't permanently damaged his development by him not playing football for four years.

What worries me is that the same thing is now happening to Skipp, Parrott and Foyth.

I absolutely loved the man and don't like bad words being said against him but I think this one is on Poch.... Having pretty much 3 years with such a tiny amount of first team football when being far too good for u23 football massively hampers a player's career. I am starting to fear that the same may happen with Skipp as well.

Slightly different with Parrott IMO. He is not currently too good for u23 level football. Next season would be the right season for Parrott to get his first loan I think.

What I mean is that he has barely played for the U23s this season because he has been involved in the first team squad but hasn't got games there either. He will have lost a years football at a key moment in his development. I'd prefer to see him playing for the U23s and then spend the whole of next season on loan and playing first team football.

I must confess that on the rare occasions I have seen KWP play he looked fine to me. Especially that away game at Saudi Sportswashing Machine. However both Poch and Jose didn't seem to fancy him so they must be seeing something I can't. I wish young Kyle success at the South coasts biggest club.

He's a very talented lad, so I guess he is either too lightweight or not showing enough fight/passion/dedication/will in training i.e. he seems a very nice guy rather than some hard-nut from the bad end of town.
Reminds me of the Clive Allen podcast where he said Gareth Bale was a bit lonely and struck up a friendship with the fitness trainer at Spurs and they got down to serious workouts and it transformed his body and thus his entire life/ riches/ fame.

Best for all that he moves on, never been convinced he's good enough for where we want to be.

He isn't, never was nor ever looked like it.

Fans have got tied up by the fact that he is one of our own and given time and space (as most decent PL players can) he has put in a few good crosses against lesser opponents. He's physically small (and isn't agressive to counter that), poor in the air (he gets badly exposed by crosses out wide in the air (something Aurier is much better at covering), neither brilliant going forward or defending.

He's a good lower level PL player that with game time and good coaching probably will have an ok career, not top 6 material and is just another good academy product we can sell for a few million (along with Carroll, Mason, Caulker, etc.).

Good luck to the kid

Pretty much sums up my thoughts as well.
