Christian Eriksen

Im just glad the Saga is all done with now. He was a good player for us. But he has tainted his legacy here with the way he played in the last year or so.

May I ask what Kane, Dele, Son, Toby, Verts, Lloris etc have done so much more than Eriksen in semis and finals and other big matches when we've had the chance to go top of the league for example?

Seems strange that this criticism is so often levelled at him, when almost always the entire team puts in brick performances when the stakes are really high.

Could not agree more, Eriksen is getting the blame from some because he wanted to move elsewhere. The truth is and it was obvious to me a few seasons back and got stick from some for saying it that we lacked the winners m entality in the team overall and i hope Jose can introduce it with the new players coming in.

Great player but soured by the last 18 months really.

The club must be really tinkled with him, only a sentence tagged onto the bottom of the GLC article on the OS announcing he's left. Ouch.

Seems that way, quite petty in my opinion from us.

Ah well.

Our fans still idolise Bale even though he put in a transfer request and Berbatov has increasingly been brought back into the club fold it seems despite refusing to come off the bench so hopefully with time everything with Eriksen calms down and fans can see him for his best times with us.

He was with us for 7 years and he was here for his 20s and also grew with us. It would be a shame if we all didn't come out of this with positive memories of each other.

I think Eriksen has the unique combination of publicly saying he'd ideally like to join a club that was a step up, his contract running out, his form getting much worse before he left, and him noticeably being a massive pussy in the tackle.

Still, I agree that it would be a shame not to have positive memories of each other for everything that came before, and I feel sure that will happen now that this protracted period is finally over!

I will remember the good years, only a fool could fail to see we played well when he played well, I was never concerned he didn't charge into tackles or challenge fpr headers, you can get plenty of grafters to do that, but his passing and his ability to control a game will be sorely missed.

Respectfully, that is not true in my case. I have always appreciated the talent but questioned psychology before (coincidentally before he signed his last contract extension a few years back). Poch flowed everything through him; that is the pressure of being “the man” IMO.

FWIW I think his reasons for running down his contract have much to do with approach towards him from our financial side in the past. I have said this a few times, so was interested to see The Guardian edge closer to the truth; no blame on anyone’s part, business is business, but it also was what it was.

I think it is good he has allowed us to get a small fee as opposed to loitering another few months.

Dubai nailed it yesterday with regards to appropriate memories and I remain on his side (and yours) in that regard. Because he did some amazing work.

Obviously you have to move on, look to new things and not ruminate. Time stands still for no man. We definitely need to refresh, change and evolve.

But it's going to be strange and sad looking to our bench next season. No Poch, no Eriksen, no Dembele, probably no Verts. I have a sneaking feeling one of our attacking 'superstars' may not be here either. Men who have provided me with some of my happiest memories as a Spurs fan over the past few decades.

I hope their replacements can do the same.

Sad the way one ill-advised comment about how he wants a new challenge will colour the way he is remembered.
Thanks for the memories and good luck at Inter.
