Agent Fees

I'm guessing, but I think the signing bonuses are where the ridiculous numbers come from. The club is paying agents for persuading the player to chose that club rather than advising their client on their best interests.

If agents don't get paid by the club for new contracts, then there is something dodgy going on at Spurs.
But as far as I am aware it's just the signing on fee the rest comes from players wages

this is a sensible change:

"Crucially, if agreed, all agents fees will be paid over the course of a player's contract - avoiding the payment of lump sums to agents on completion of a transfer or new contract. The aim is to reduce the number of players looking for regular transfers and dissuade less reputable agents from moving their players on as early as possible."

Scandalous that he should make that sort of fee. Its not as if selling de Ligt would be difficult!

I really struggle to understand why players think they need to have this kind of agent. An agent, fine. This type? What can they possibly get out of that?

His stable all seem to be happy with him though, I can't think of any players that have fired him, Zlatan is very complimentary about him in his book too.

If the clubs didn’t pay their extortionate fees there wouldn’t be this problem!
A large part of the problem is the greedy mega clubs. Abrammovich, the city owners, the Glaziers, the daft buggers at PSG, Barca and Real. IMHO the agents are only getting what they can.

The money is there, in taking these huge sums the agents also get a better deal for their clients, the players, who ultimately should be getting the bulk of the money as they are the talent.

There are bigger problems in football than mr 20%. As @StephenH points out, we have actual criminals reputation washing themselves, corruption in the managing bodies and human rights abuses in World Cup stadia construction.

Looking at the list of agents above and commissions earned, looks like they're actually Mr. Ten Percent.

Which was a helluva good tune by Triumvirat.

Fifa should make set up a players market Internet platform and exchange , their own bitcoin, and AI apps using xG data and football manager stats and start streaming rich ar vr content. Take out the middlemen throughout the entire value chain.
