Willian José to travel to London with Spurs transfer close
AS understand that the striker has been chosen by Jose Mourinho to replace Harry Kane and a move to the Premier League is close.

Willian José is the man who Jose Mourinho has selected to replace the injured Harry Kane. The club captain is out until April and Spurs will enter the transfer market to sign his substitute. AS can report that everything is in place for the striker to sign with Spurs and will travel to London on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning.

The Brazilian striker renewed with Real Sociedad until 2024 in October 2018 with a €70 million release clause. In the eventuality of a deal being struck between the clubs, the clause will not be paid.

Willian Jose has been one of the key players under Imanol Alguacil during Real Sociedad's good start to the season. He is the team's top scorer with eight in 21 games. If the deal does get done, Real Sociedad will lose one of their most important players and could enter the market to find a replacement for him before ir close.

The 28-year-old played with Zaragoza and Las Palmas after arriving in Spain to play with Real Madrid Castilla. After arriving in Spain in 2014, he is now set to take up his biggest challenge of his career as he heads to the Premier League.

Probably both parties using each other by putting out an unsubstantiated rumour.

Benefits the player to see if teams like fulham, wba and burnley will make a bid and benefits us in terms of getting some traction from clubs who have our real targets.

...a €70 million release clause...the clause will not be paid.

"Credit" somehow doesn't seem like the right word here.

I'm not very good at reading these graphs (still dont understand xg) but does it show he does ZERO pressing!?!?

What can we take from these?
I think he is our back up plan behind Piatek.

XG is simple. 0.78 for a penalty as apparently 78/100 penalties are scored. Son last night was about 0.95 indicating he would score 95/100. It’s a good barometer of the quality of chances that are being created, and gives no regard for the actual eventual shot.

I prefer it over shots on target as you can have some really good chances shot wide or over (GLC and Son vs Liverpool) and if you just assessed shots on target you wouldn’t realise how good these chances were.

Liverpool have given up a combined approx 4-5 XG in the last 5/6 league games and conceded zero. It indicates they’ve still given up some decent chances (like us and Utd) but have rode their luck a bit.

Smoke screen / back up option to Piatek probably.

Possibly

who fudging knows, get this window over and done with already.
