Serge Aurier

He can always play like that and has before but his problem is consistancy.
He just switches off.
Maybe Mourinho can keep him on his toes like Poch wasnt able to.

Poch Aurier after the 4-0 Palace game
"I think the performance was great. First half was fantastic, his concentration and focus. Now he needs to show and be consistent. It's not only one game and the second game the focus and intensity start to drop."

It's like he saw it coming.

Looks like a player, interesting the Serge/Sissoko combination to close the game works quite well.

Guess we will have to re-evaluate each player now.

Not sure about his celebration though. Not sure if reading to much into it but did he put his fingers in his ears then spat into the crowd?

Lot of talk online about his celebration and that he allegedly spat into the crowd. It looks that way but I personally don't buy it. I think the clip I saw is almost taken out of context.

Ive been arguing since he got here that there is an X factor about him, that if he can just get his head straight we could have one hell of a RB on our hands.

And only a few weeks ago my patience went, and I figured it was never to be - they guy is just untrainable, too reckless, and ultimately a liability.

And in the last week he has looked the real deal.

Have to say, Im hesitant to get carried away. I thought last night "2 good games in a row, has he ever been this consistent!?" and so Im still watching him waiting for the inevitable brainfart.

but...

He has been really rather good. Was a fair candidate for MOTM last night, IMO - and West Ham too. I like that Jose knew he was an issue when he walked through the door, and has already come to a good compromise to cover his weakness and take advantage of his strengths.

His attacking play is excellent. His defensive play is brain farts. Keep him as an attacking option and get the best out of him = seeing him thrive. I think we need Vertonghen back as the left sided defender though instead of Rose. Back three of Sanchez, Alderweireld, and Vertonghen, and that will be so much better. Add in a solid defensive midfielder and maybe we’ll go back to occasional clean sheets.

Almost counter intuitively, I thought his defensive work the last two games has been improved - as well as his attacking.

Its almost as if he is better suited to pressing and defending higher up the pitch.

When he is the last man his positional play, tracking etc is poor.

When he is further up, it seems greatly improved, IMO. And with Sanchez as rcb theres some pace in there to cover when necessary.
