Next Spurs Manager

and they finished ahead of Barcelona
It's not that they beat Barca in a cup competition (with some mitigating circumstances) it's the acknowledgement that Inter were a financial powerhouse at the time. If we are going to spend as Inter did then fine, Jose is a good choice, he is undoubtedly a winner. If we though are going to spend in relative terms the way we haven't throughout Levy's tenure then aren't Inter and the situation is not comparable.

I worry about supporters. This season is now pretty much a write off. We are in 14th, appointed a new manager, and have half a team of players that no longer want to be at the club (maybe exaggeration, maybe not). Mourinho will take time to adapt Spurs tactically, and to get in a few of his players. So this season is a season now in transition and given how unpopular this appointment is, I don’t have much faith that supporters will give him the time that he needs. This could get ugly.

I didn’t want Mourinho but heh, it’s happened, let’s see what happens with him. For now he has my backing.

Well at least the amazon documentary will be a great hit.

Can’t wait until the fall out.... next time a player likes Mane comes around and Levy offers £20m. Let’s see how Jose reacts.

I can’t see how Levy and Jose will get on. Two extremes when it comes to the value of money. It will be worse than Harry.

I’d hope Mourinho told Levy how much money he needs to spend. Would be short sighted for Mourinho to join knowing we won’t give him money...surely...

Disagree, this season was a right off two days ago, now there is a lot to play for.

I call flimflam on all the fans, Jose goes on a winning run and the vast majority will be Jose fans overnight.

Re your next post, he will get money and it would have been a discussion before he joined

Yep, we’ll back in third by Christmas.

So have several teams in several years. My point is that Jose did not win the CL at Inter on a budget. He did it by putting the club £500 million in debt. Debt that we now cannot afford after our chairman went way over budget on our stadium.

I really, really hope to be proved wrong about this one. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than Jose succeeding at Spurs. Unfortunately I just can’t see it.

Good luck Jose. Please do what Pochettino did and leave this club in a much better state than you found it in.

IMO more down to Levy than anybody.
2013/14 season we finished 6th - points 69 and Qualification for the Europa League play-off round
Today 14th points 12.
If you think that 4 CL qualifications in a row having qualified once previously in our history isn’t a better place then I mostly give up.... achieved with the 6th biggest wage bill and £18 million net spend (most of which was this summer just gone).

Levy has been a very good chairman from a club growth perspective but has taken the club from debt free to having £650 million of it and in his tenure he has actually taken us from having the 5th biggest turnover when he joined to the 6th biggest now (as of last set of accounts - though we may move above Arsenal in the next set to be back to where we started).

Yes, I agree but we can't standstill. Poch has done some sterling work for us and I will always be grateful. The problem is we are now in trouble sitting in 14th not even 6th and definitely not in the CL spots. I'm no Mourinho fan but we need a new voice and he has that one ingredient which we lack so I'm keeping my fingers crossed he brings a 'winning mentality'.

I have no doubt that Levy would have told Jose that he will have money to spend ( just not a shed full) lets be honest he his the only chairman who did not allow " rent a quote" to leave our club with money problems( like he did at every other club) and i am sure he has made Jose aware that he does not have blank cheque book to play with.

Huh? That is illogical.

Mourinho knows he can prat around starting fires, throwing bombs, alienating journos, fighting players etc.

Then next year Levy throws him out and Mou has another £20m in his sky rocket.

@milo Can you please unlock my avi now?

The era of Poch has gone and I want to refresh with a fresh start and a nice Jose picture instead please!
