Next Spurs Manager

In a weird way...maybe we’re set up to enable him to succeed. Maybe Jose never had the control he wanted at United. Maybe he was always compromising with Wooodward’s ideal to sign the players he wanted. Maybe here, now the role of Manager is absolute, maybe he gets control.

Maybe. Does anyone really believe it’s going to be different with us? 5 years?

No, but I think you need the security of 5 to make a success of 3.

I don’t agree, wining a domestic cup is irrelevant to us right now, we need to be in the CL, thats all that matters. Yeah the EL is a joke, but the ends justify the means.

5th and the FA cup is a disaster, 4th and nothing else is success, for now.

Disagree and I think Levy would take that and your fudging arm right now if offered.

The PR would crazy, Spurs and Jose recover from 14th, win their first FA cup in what, 18 years? and would be instant favorites for Europa next season as well.

We’ve been favourites for the Europa 4/5 times, nobody cares.

Who won the FA cup last year? I don’t know, you don’t know, nobody cares.

- You don't care if you have won it regularly, you do care if you are in a drought for a decade and trying to raise the profile of the club
- The players would care
- The problem was we were favorites that didn't win, very different proposition if we had Jose

He’d be in my top 2.

I'd also take him, good at adapting to what he has

Are you on the wind up?

I haven't had this much expectation about a managerial appointment since Santini. I hope this one goes better than that.

Jol - who?
Ramos - he's not Jol.
Harry - he's a fudging crook.
AVB - fudge off with your Powerpoint.
Tactics Tim - stop the world, I want to get off.
Poch - AVB MkII. We should have kept Tactics Tim

fudge me, I know fudge all about football.

Seems official enough.

This is make or break time. I'm grieving over Poch, and I fudging guarantee you, half of the fanbase is too.

Levy, no more half measures. You dumped a good man and the best manager we had in 50 years after failing to back him adequately over five long years. Now, by all accounts, you intend to hire a manager who expects to win things, and expects to be backed to do so.

Back. Your. Man. Spend some fudging dineros.

Because if you don't this time, with Jose Mourinho, serial winner and equally serial moaner...when the dumpster fire erupts, you aren't escaping unscathed.

My hope is that this is still Mourinho's PR putting his name out there.

Mourinho is a terrible fit.

He used to be the cutting edge but he has turned into a dinosaur. Look at Rooney's quotes when Mourinho was sacked at United. Rooney said he was shocked at how badly he dealt with the younger players.

We need a man manager in right now to settle the dressing room. Instead we will have a guy that will start fights with everyone every day. He believes in the outdated 'conflict management'.

He is terrible at bringing young players through. At the start of the season he was complaining about Lampard starting Abraham.

Then there's the negative football. It's not just the defensive nonsense. It's the use of big physical players that can't kick a ball. His reliance on the likes of Fellaini to get him out of trouble.

Then there's his toxic personally. The little cheating eye gouging prick. He deflects all critism into his players and belittles the club. Now long before he starts talking about how many titles he has compared to Spurs.

He's completely out of date tactically now. His aura completely collapsed after that season at Chelsea.

I will not be supporting him or "backing the manager". This is George Graham again. I already see people on this board sickeningly referring to him as "Jose". Like some Chelsea fan.

I think Levy wanted him back in 2007, when he first left Chelsea. He didn't get him then - settled for Ramos. But he's evidently not wavered in his desire to get him since.

That makes this more likely than not, especially given the timing of the sacking (late into the international break) and full blast media coverage - I think it's fair to say that both the club and the manager are briefing the press on this, for whatever reason.

I don't know what to make of him, and I'm too grief-stricken over Poch to care. I will say that half his players hate him, and the other half have publicly stated that they would run through brick walls or (alternately) die for him.

It's just his way. As for his personality, the playing style, and everything else, I care little. We had the best we could get with Poch - a good, big-hearted man, who cared, and who played brave football, bravely.

We threw it away. We threw away a man who could have built a dynasty here, filled with romanticism and the passion of belief - of overcoming our human failures to succeed in the most beautiful of ways.

We threw away our ideal, for a temporary fling with a man known for being successful, which we as a club are not. And we have apparently decided, as a club, that success is more important than anything else.

Fine. That's what I'll judge Mourinho on. Now, all that matters is how successful Jose Mourinho will be.

If it really is Mourinho (and it looks like it is), I'll back him. If he fails to deliver, sack him and get the next bloke in.

That's how we as a club have decided to act. Like a proper Big Club (tm). The romance is gone, but that's football - now, winning is all that matters, apparently.

So if our backing helps him win, I'll back him.

The only glimmer of positivity i can see in appointing Mourinho is that surely we wouldn't do so unless we were going to be operating on a new level, financially speaking? Which is a good sign for the medium term i guess

Unless our wantaway players do a 180 we essentially need a whole new back four for the starting XI, potentially a DM and GK too. i think people tend to ignore this when they speak about how good our squad is - the attack is strong and the 2 CM signings are a good start to rebuilding but there is a lot of work to do still.

I think what we will see from Jose is a system than can cover the weaknesses we have in the defence till we can get to to the summer
PSG, a few Italian clubs, probably Madrid another time ..

fudge me mate, Europa Cup is a booby prize? you think United is going to win any of those booby prizes again anytime soon, farless in consecutive years?

But, yes he will need success quickly, the difference is he has shown he will priortize a lesser cup to get a win early in his tenure at a club because he's smart enought o know that eases pressure and helps the players. One of things Poch should evaluate at some point is how different would things have turned out is we had put just a little bit more into winning one of the domestic cups?

I can’t get my head around spurs fans that are picky over trophies, we have won three cups since 91.

We should be delighted with anything.

As for Europa being a booby prize? I’m note sure how he was meant to win the CL that season as he wasn’t in it.
