Christian Eriksen

It broke my heart when ghod left and I swore I'd never get that involved with a player again.
But if some one like ghod can leave then anyone can, we should be able to accept that.
Eriksen has handled it badly, but only for himself, he has always said he had a career path mapped out so we can't complain. I always hoped he'd have a change of heart, but if he goes he goes with my blessing and thanks, and regrets.
There's some I've been furious at about leaving, but not Eriksen.
My only concern about him staying was commitment, but yesterday put that to bed for.

Fair points and i I can't dance with any of that, as i have said i really hope he signs a new contract and even if he does not we should still keep him anyway. Why? because (imo) we are a much better team with him in it and that isall that matters.

As for Hoddle he is without a doubt the best player i have ever seen in a spurs shirt and he broke mine as well.

I was young when Hoddle went. What was his reasoning and was it a shock?

I remember being broken hearted when Waddle went a season or two later. At the time, I wanna recall it being coz we were hard up for money and Marseille made an offer we couldn’t refuse.

Hoddle I think was just a change of scenery, an opportunity to play abroad make some more money perhaps and just experience a new lifestyle.

As for Waddle I remember walking to work and seeing someone with a rolled up Sun newspaper. Could just make out the £4m headline(think it was £4m?) and just knew it was bad news. Wasn't sure if it was Waddle wanting the chance to play abroad or Spurs being skint, might have been a combination of the two.

What part has he actually handled badly?

He is only doing exactly what he did to sign for us in the first place

He had said he always wanted to try his luck abroad and at 30 he thought it was probably the right time, also at that time English clubs were banned from playing in Europe and it was something he wanted to do.

First goal, can from his cross being well saved, which caused their defence to rejig leaving room for NDombele to hit that shot
I think it's a stretch to say he had a band in that goal directly which was my quote.
At least two opposition players and two of our players touched the ball after his cross.

We'd just signed Lineker, hadn't we? Bizarre that El Veg would not have wanted to play those two in the same team.

He's put himself in an awkward position and made himself look a little silly, which he clearly isn't btw.
As I said it can be no surprise to anyone paying attention that he wants to leave, he's always said he would.

Just give him 200k a week and we can get on with the rest of the season. Always some issue every year that casts a cloud over our season.

having thw indow shut early was supposed to cut out this type of brick. Either we keeps our open until September or the rest of Europe close earlier.

If he won't sign a contract, I'd still keep him and f**k the transfer fee. He's too bloody important. Give Lo Celso a season to get up to speed in the hope he can bring some of what Eriksen brings. Not sure Levy will be of the same view though.

Agreed. It’ll probably take a few months at least until Lo Celso (plus Ndombele) are fully integrated and judging by how poorly we performed in that first half we might struggle to get a Top 4 spot without Eriksen this season, let alone win some silverware.

So purely from a fiscal point of view, the difference between playing next season in Europa instead of Champions League could be about £60m which pretty much offsets any transfer fee Levy could hope to get for Eriksen (with less than 12 months left on his contract) anyway.

I agree
We don’t pay for Le Celso till next season and can buy another eriksen replacement then

Good to see him put in a proper performance after looking lacklustre in preseason.

Future still in the balance, and probably will be until the other windows close. But at least he's showing that he should be a great player if he sticks around regardless of a new contract or not.

There must be some threshold where we let him go this summer for financial reasons, but I don't know what that threshold is.

If he stays for the season if I were Levy I would up his contract for the remaining 9 months out of respect.

It is little touches like that, that get people onside and make them work for you.
